The Member of Parliament for Suame, Honourable John Darko has urged the New Patriotic Party to allow its disciplinary structures to address recent tensions involving Kennedy Agyapong. He indicated that patience and internal discipline is essential as the party navigates the matter.
Addressing the controversy, Honourable Darko said the party has already taken a formal decision to refer the former Member of Parliament to its disciplinary committee. He noted that members should await the outcome of the process instead of escalating tensions through public exchanges.
Furthermore, the Suame MP highlighted the longstanding relationship between the party and Kennedy Agyapong. He stated that the former Assin Central MP has built a formidable reputation through years of service and remains a significant figure within the party.
He stressed on Kennedy Agyapong’s contribution to the NPP over the years. Honourable Darko observed that his 24 years in Parliament and commitment to the party have earned him considerable respect among party faithful.

“He is a member of the party and his contribution to the party cannot be underestimated. He has paid his dues and still integral to the party. My advice is that as party members, we await the decision of the disciplinary committee. We have one party to build and we have an election to win, so we must be measured in our words.”

Additionally, he rejected suggestions that appearing before the disciplinary committee amounts to punishment or persecution. The Suame MP explained that the committee exists as a legitimate channel through which grievances and allegations can be heard fairly.
In light of allegations surrounding corruption and Agenda 111, Honourable Darko said claims of misconduct must be supported with credible evidence. He stressed that if evidence is presented, the party’s structures would be positioned to pursue accountability through the appropriate processes.
Moreover, he cautioned younger members of the NPP leadership against harsh public criticism of senior party figures. The lawmaker argued that measured engagement is necessary to preserve internal cohesion during politically sensitive moments.
Honourable Darko called on the party leadership to handle the matter with tact and restraint. He added that the party should focus on retaining influential members instead of allowing internal divisions to deepen.

Focusing on the public commentary surrounding Kennedy Agyapong’s remarks about 2027, Honourable Darko dismissed claims of an impending crisis and suggested political opponents were amplifying the issue for strategic advantage.
The emphasis, he said, rests on unity and disciplined communication. Honourable Darko ultimately appealed to party members to be focused on collective political goals ahead of future electoral contests.
Afari Hospital Neared Completion, Politician Says
Honourable Darko urged the NPP to place greater emphasis on infrastructure and governance matters affecting citizens. He indicated that ongoing debates should prioritise substantive national concerns over internal disagreements.
Discussing the Afari Hospital project, the Suame MP argued that the facility represents one of the major development achievements under the NPP administration. He stated that public discussions should acknowledge the extent of work already completed on the project.
Furthermore, he challenged assertions that little or no progress had been made on the hospital. Honourable Darko pointed to construction data showing that major components of the facility were nearing completion before the change in government.
He explained that civil works on the hospital stood at 97 percent completion during the NPP administration. Staff housing, he added, had reached 77 percent while road infrastructure stood at approximately 80 per cent.

“The work at Afari was substantial and the project was nearing completion. That record deserves fairness.”

Furthermore, landscaping and auxiliary works have also advanced significantly, reinforcing the scale of investment already committed to the project. The Suame MP said these figures illustrate meaningful progress that should remain part of public assessment.
Honourable Darko disagreed with Kennedy Agyapong’s remarks that appeared to dismiss the progress made at Afari. He argued that senior figures within the party should support major development narratives that strengthen public trust.
Moreover, he insisted that the disciplinary process involving Kennedy Agyapong should continue without unnecessary sensationalism. The lawmaker stated that the party’s structures remain capable of resolving internal disagreements while preserving unity.
Honourable Darko noted that pressing economic and security issues require greater public attention and policy focus. Similarly, he referenced cross border activities and other national pressures that continue to affect ordinary Ghanaians. He indicated that such matters demand coordinated responses from political leadership and state institutions.
