President John Dramani Mahama’s approval rating stands at 72 percent in the first round of a new longitudinal tracking poll launched by Global InfoAnalytics, according to Executive Director Mussa Dankwa.
The survey, which will follow the same group of voters through to the 2028 elections, also captured public sentiment on living standards and the performance of specific government policies.
“President approval rating in the first longitudinal poll stands at 72%, while disapproval stands at 21%, with 7% having no opinion.
“We will track the same voters over the period to the 2028 elections. These polls will be in addition to the cross-section polls conducted every 3 months from randomly selected constituencies”.

Beyond the President’s approval rating, the survey captured voter perceptions of their personal economic circumstances compared to the previous year, revealing a majority who reported improvement.
“Majority of voters say their standard of living has improved compared to a year ago, 53%, but 19% say it has gotten worse and 23% say it has not changed,” Mr Dankwa said.
Flagship Policies Earn Strong Marks
The poll also assessed public perception of specific government policies, with several flagship initiatives receiving strong approval from respondents. “Voters have rated the No-Academic Fee policy, the Big Push, Tax Relieves and the National Apprenticeship policies as the best rated main policies of the government,” Mr Dankwa said.
However, not all government initiatives fared well in the survey, with two specific programmes falling short of majority approval. “Women’s Development Bank and 24-Hour Economy are the policies that failed to score a pass mark,” he said.
According to Mr Dankwa, the poll was conducted between July 15 and July 24, 2026, using computer-assisted telephone interviews. Global InfoAnalytics initially targeted 9,242 registered voters for the study, with 7,761 respondents ultimately completing the questionnaire, representing an 84 percent response rate.
The survey covered all 16 regions of Ghana, drawing its sample from the 2024 Electoral Commission voters’ register through probability random sampling with regional quota limits. Global InfoAnalytics reported that the survey carries a 99 percent confidence level with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points.
A Longitudinal Approach Distinct From Regular Tracking Polls
Mussa Dankwa clarified that this survey forms part of a broader longitudinal tracking study, in which the same group of respondents will be surveyed every two months to monitor changes in public opinion over time.
He noted that this methodology differs from the firm’s regular national tracking polls, which are conducted quarterly through online and face-to-face interviews across randomly selected constituencies. The latest findings build on a broader pattern of rising approval for Mahama’s administration captured in Global InfoAnalytics’ earlier tracking polls.
The President’s job approval rating had previously risen to 71 percent in the firm’s June 2026 national tracking poll, marking what was then the highest level recorded across the organisation’s national surveys.
That earlier poll indicated that President Mahama continued to enjoy widespread public support across the country, with voters in all regions approving of his performance in office, even as specific concerns emerged around particular policy areas and governance challenges.
Consistent Public Support Across Survey Methods
The consistency between the June tracking poll and this new longitudinal survey suggests a stable pattern of strong public approval for the President’s overall performance, even as certain individual policies, such as the Women’s Development Bank and the 24-Hour Economy programme, appear to face more mixed public reception than the administration’s broader governance record.
With this inaugural round of the longitudinal study now complete, Global InfoAnalytics is positioned to offer a more granular, continuous picture of how public opinion toward Mahama’s administration evolves over time, tracking the same respondents at two-month intervals through to the 2028 elections.
This approach is expected to provide researchers, policymakers and political observers with a clearer, more consistent dataset for understanding shifts in voter sentiment, distinct from the broader cross-sectional snapshots offered by the firm’s regular quarterly polling.
As the tracking study progresses, subsequent rounds are likely to reveal whether the President’s current approval rating holds steady, rises further, or faces pressure from specific policy concerns already flagged in this initial survey, particularly regarding the underperforming Women’s Development Bank and 24-Hour Economy initiatives.
