Sammy Gyamfi, CEO of Ghana Gold Board, has declared his complete readiness to appear before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to address allegations raised by the Minority regarding losses attributed to the institution.

Ghana Gold Board Boss emphasized that the Minority Leader does not need to delay or hold multiple press conferences, as he remains fully prepared to clarify the situation publicly and without hesitation.

Expanding on his declaration, the Gold Board Chief Executive explained that Parliamentary Standing Orders should not be used as an excuse or a reason to fear that the Majority side might oppose a probe into the matter.

He revealed that he has proactively reached out to the Majority Leader in Parliament, Honorable James Agalga, pleading with him to support an immediate invitation from the Public Accounts Committee, thereby giving the institution an open forum to demonstrate whether the Gold Board incurred any financial losses or if it is unfairly being blamed for deficits generated by an entirely different entity.

“Just get public accounts committee to invite us and come and sit down there and come and demonstrate to the whole nation where the Gold Board made losses or how the Gold Board is to blame for losses made by another institution. We are waiting for that. Ladies and gentlemen, as I conclude, I want to urge you, our friends in the media, in all humility, and the Ghanaian public, to hold Afenyo Markin and others who make allegations about to the strictest standard of proof, particularly in the light of detailed the detailed facts I have placed before you today.”

The Parliamentary Standoff and Accountability Context

The urgency behind facing the Parliamentary committee stems from persistent political friction regarding the financial health and operational oversight of Ghana’s extractive sector management.

The opposition leaders have repeatedly questioned the financial stewardship of state extractive agencies, raising public alarm over alleged fiscal mismanagement and operational deficits.

By demanding an immediate summons before the Public Accounts Committee, the Gold Board leadership seeks to establish a transparent line of public record that dispels rumors and subjects all political assertions to cross-examination.

Rather than waiting for formal political consensus or procedural motions that often delay legislative inquiries, directly engaging the committee provides an official platform to clear the institution’s name. This proactive willingness to face legislative scrutiny serves as a mechanism to settle technical disputes regarding commodity trading revenues, treasury operations, and inter-institutional balance sheets before the public.

Allegations of a Political Smear Campaign

Addressing the broader political climate surrounding the controversy, the Chief Executive dismissed the persistent critiques as an orchestrated attempt to undermine key economic achievements rather than a genuine quest for public accountability.

The state entity asserts that the opposition’s claims fail to account for the institution’s direct role in bolstering international reserves and stabilizing the national currency under President Mahama’s administration.

The management further observed that the ongoing pushback is rooted in frustration over the board’s refusal to succumb to political pressure or participate in dubious settlement schemes. By maintaining a firm stance, the institution aims to shift public attention away from repeated political rhetoric and toward verifiable economic outcomes within the extractive industry.

Safeguarding Extractive Value and Economic Stability

Despite the political exchanges, the Gold Board reaffirmed its commitment to managing Ghana’s mineral resources efficiently and generating sustainable wealth for the nation.

The organization maintains that its operational strategies remain aligned with national development objectives, helping to fortify macro-economic stability through strategic gold management and reserves accumulation.

Moving forward, the leadership calls on the media and the Ghanaian public to subject all corporate and political claims to rigorous evidentiary standards.

The institution promises to remain focused on its core operational mandate, maintaining transparency while continuing to deliver economic value from the country’s precious mineral resources without being derailed by partisan debate.
