Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has rallied behind Ampem Darkoa Ladies ahead of their crucial semi-final clash with Benin’s FC Dynamique in the 2026 WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers.

The Ghanaian champions will face Dynamique at the August 4 Stadium in Ouagadougou today, September 2, with a place in the final and a step closer to CAF Women’s Champions League qualification at stake.

President Simeon-Okraku has maintained contact with the leadership of Ampem Darkoa throughout their campaign and has conveyed his best wishes to the team as they prepare for what promises to be their biggest test of the tournament so far.

The support comes as Ampem Darkoa continue to make a strong impression in Burkina Faso, producing the only perfect group-stage record in the competition.

Ampem Darkoa Carry Perfect Record Into Semi-final

Ampem Darkoa began their campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over defending CAF Women’s Champions League champions ASEC Mimosas, with Gloria Adomako scoring the decisive goal.

They followed that result with a commanding 4-0 victory over AS GNN of Niger before completing a perfect group-stage campaign with a 2-1 comeback win over Nigeria’s Edo Queens.

Edo Queens took the lead early in the final group match, but Ampem Darkoa responded strongly after the interval to turn the game around and secure all three points.

The three victories gave the Ghanaian champions nine points from nine, with seven goals scored and just one conceded. Their consistency at both ends of the pitch has consequently made them one of the leading contenders for the regional title.

Their semi-final opponents, FC Dynamique, have endured a considerably tougher route to the last four. The Benin side suffered a 3-0 defeat to hosts USFA before drawing 0-0 with Togo’s ASKO de Kara. Dynamique therefore enter the contest still searching for their first victory and first goal of the tournament.

Final Spot and Champions League Place Beckon

The semi-final forms part of the final stages of the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament, which is being staged in Ouagadougou from August 23 to September 5.

Seven clubs from the WAFU Zone B region entered this year’s competition, with the teams divided into two groups. Ampem Darkoa were placed in Group A alongside USFA and ASKO, while Group B featured ASEC Mimosas, FC Dynamique, Edo Queens and AS GNN.

The other semi-final will see hosts and Group A winners USFA face Edo Queens, who finished second in Group B. The two semi-final winners will meet in the final, with the winner of the WAFU B qualifying tournament securing the zone’s place at the CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament.

The 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League final phase will feature the six zonal qualifiers, the defending champions AS FAR of Morocco and a representative of the host country.

For Ampem Darkoa, Wednesday’s encounter represents an opportunity not only to reach the regional final but also to take Ghana a step closer to another appearance on the continent’s biggest women’s club football stage.

With an unblemished record behind them and the backing of the GFA leadership, the Ghanaian champions will be determined to maintain their momentum and move one victory away from securing their place among Africa’s elite.
