Ampem Darkoa Ladies will face Nigeria’s Edo Queens in the final of the 2026 WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers on Saturday, September 5, with a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League at stake.

The Ghanaian champions booked their place in the decisive encounter after cruising past Benin’s FC Dynamique 4-1 in the semi-finals on Wednesday at the August 4 Stadium in Ouagadougou.

Edo Queens, meanwhile, secured their place in the final with an equally emphatic 5-1 victory over hosts USFA, setting up a Ghana-Nigeria showdown for the region’s sole ticket to the continental competition.

The final will bring together two of the competition’s strongest sides, with Ampem Darkoa looking to complete a perfect campaign and earn their second appearance at the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The two teams met in the Group stage where the Ghanaian side truimphed 2-1 over the Nigerian champions.

The winner of Saturday’s encounter will represent WAFU Zone B at the 2026/27 CAF Women’s Champions League, making the clash the most important fixture of the tournament for both teams.

Ampem Darkoa Continue Perfect Run

Ampem Darkoa will enter the final full of confidence after maintaining their 100 percent record in Burkina Faso, winning all four matches and scoring 11 goals while conceding only two.

The Techiman-based side produced another commanding display against FC Dynamique, with prolific striker Milot Pokuaa opening the scoring in the 16th minute.

Rebecca Asemani doubled the advantage in the 28th minute before Gloria Adomako added a third eight minutes later, giving Ampem Darkoa a comfortable 3-0 lead at half-time.

Pokuaa completed her brace in the 66th minute to further underline the Ghanaian champions’ dominance. FC Dynamique managed a consolation goal late in the game, but Ampem Darkoa comfortably held on for a 4-1 victory.

Their route to the final has been built on consistency. Ampem Darkoa opened the competition with a 1-0 win over defending champions ASEC Mimosas before defeating AS Garde Nationale 4-0 and coming from behind to beat Edo Queens 2-1 in their final group match.

That earlier victory over Edo Queens gives the Ghanaian side an important psychological advantage ahead of the final, although the Nigerian champions have since responded strongly to reach the title deciding fixture.

Edo Queens Set Up Final Rematch

Edo Queens have also demonstrated considerable attacking strength throughout the tournament. They began with a 7-0 victory over AS Garde Nationale before beating ASEC Mimosas 3-1 to secure their place in the semi-finals.

They then produced one of their most impressive performances of the competition by defeating hosts USFA 5-1 in the other semi-final to book their place in Saturday’s final.

The Nigerian champions will therefore have another opportunity to face Ampem Darkoa after losing their group-stage meeting. That defeat remains their only setback in the competition.

For Ampem Darkoa, victory would secure their second appearance at the CAF Women’s Champions League after their previous participation in 2023.

Ghanaian clubs have previously reached the continental stage through the WAFU B qualifiers, with Hasaacas Ladies achieving the feat in 2021 and Ampem Darkoa qualifying in 2023. Ampem Darkoa now have the opportunity to become the first Ghanaian club to qualify for the competition for a second time.

With both sides having already shown their attacking quality, Saturday’s final promises to be a fitting conclusion to the WAFU B qualifiers, with Ampem Darkoa seeking to repeat their group-stage success and Edo Queens determined to reverse the earlier result and claim the region’s CAF Women’s Champions League ticket.
