Mikel Arteta has penned a new contract with Arsenal that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until June 2030, committing himself to the club for the next phase of its pursuit of sustained success.
Arteta’s renewal comes after he guided Arsenal to their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 season, ending a 22-year wait for the championship and securing the club’s fourth league title in the Premier League era.
Arsenal announced the agreement in a statement on Wednesday. “We are delighted to announce Mikel Arteta has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal.”

The Spaniard’s new deal represents a continuation of the project he began when he was appointed head coach in December 2019, having previously spent five years at the club as a player.
Arteta has since developed Arsenal into one of the leading sides in English football, culminating in last season’s title triumph after years of near misses and establishing himself as the seventh manager in the club’s history to win the league championship.
Kroenkes back Arteta
Arsenal’s owners Stan Kroenke and Josh Kroenke have placed their confidence in Arteta to oversee the club’s next chapter, highlighting the relationship that has developed since his return to north London.
“It has been an incredible journey so far and we are excited for what lies ahead in this special relationship. Last season was an incredible moment in Arsenal’s history, a moment in which we created memories that will last a lifetime. We’re determined to create many more in the years ahead.”

The Kroenkes also praised Arteta’s understanding of Arsenal’s identity and his commitment to the club, with the new agreement providing continuity at the top of the football operation.

Again, the extension is significant because Arteta has enjoyed exceptional results during his time in charge. He has managed 361 matches in all competitions and has a 62.05 per cent win rate, the best recorded by any full-time manager in Arsenal’s history.
But his start was not rosy as he endured torrid times on the pitch and results were hard to come by.
His coaching staff have also agreed new contracts, with their renewals aligned to the duration of Arteta’s new agreement.
Arsenal Target Winning Era
The club’s hierarchy now wants to use the stability provided by the new contracts to build on its recent achievements and compete for major honours on a regular basis.
Arsenal chief executive Richard Garlick believes Arteta has the qualities required to turn the club’s recent progress into something more enduring.
“This is an important time in Arsenal Football Club’s history. We want to create a winning era together with Mikel. We will continue to work hard together as we aim to fulfil our long-term ambitions for the club and our supporters.”
Richard Garlick, Arsenal Chief Executive
Garlick also pointed to Arteta’s belief and determination as important qualities in Arsenal’s efforts to establish a successful period that extends beyond a single title-winning campaign.
The renewal gives Arsenal long-term certainty over their managerial position as they look to defend their league crown and challenge for further domestic and European honours.
Arteta Commits Long-term Future To Arsenal
Arteta, meanwhile, welcomed the opportunity to continue leading the club where he enjoyed a successful playing career before returning in a coaching capacity.
The 44-year-old described the extension as a proud moment for himself and his family and expressed his gratitude to the club’s ownership and supporters. “It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal,” Arteta remarked after officially penning the contract.

Arteta also believes there is more to achieve after securing the league title and sees the new contract as an opportunity to continue building with the same group of people. “We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together,” he added.
The agreement, however, remains subject to the completion of regulatory processes, but once finalised it will keep Arteta at Arsenal until June 2030.
The long-term commitment places the manager at the heart of Arsenal’s plans as the club attempts to turn its return to the summit of English football into the start of a sustained period of silverware.
