Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the North Tongu Constituency, have warned that they will not take it lightly if the Member of Parliament for the area is harmed by the State or any other individual.
In a strong-worded statement issued, the constituents said they have observed how the Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, was heckled in his quest to hold government accountable.
According to the aggrieved party folks, the attempts to prevent Ablakwa from lawfully performing his duties is an indication of government’s “penchant for fighting anybody who shows an aversion towards corruption”.
The statement, signed by the NDC constituency communication officer, Kennedy Mornyuie, therefore stressed that if Ablakwa is harmed as a result of his activism, they will descend heavily on government and they do not intend on taking anything easy or peacefully.
“Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has become a torn in the bad flesh of this corrupt-ridden and incompetent government hence the dastardly, and cowardly haste to use the judicial system to frustrate him and ultimately imprison him.
“We are therefore serving a strong warning to the faceless and marauding agents of the state who are bent on seeing the Member of Parliament imprisoned and cowed into submission. A word to the wise is enough”
Kennedy Mornyuie
Then again, the members of the NDC who are fully behind Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, served a notice to the government (NPP), that if anything should happen to their beloved MP, without his human rights respected, they would have no other option than to exercise a positive course of action in its clear terms.
The warning from the constituency comes after an earlier call by former Kumbungu Member of Parliament, Ras Mubarak, who urged Ghanaians to hold President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the National Security responsible, if Mr. Ablakwa is harmed.
Ablakwa’s Life In Danger
Former Member of Parliament for the Kumbungu Constituency, Ras Mubarak, claimed his party member and Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s life was at risk. Ras Mubarak said he has passed on the information to Mr. Ablakwa and also encouraged him to tighten his security for his own safety.
“People are tailing him. They’re tracking his movement and we don’t have to wait till something happens. We’ve had instances in this country where a journalist was harmed and killed. I spoke to him about it and told him to take a safety precaution
“The first duty of every President is the protection of its citizens, and that is why I said that if a sitting Member of Parliament is harmed, the President and the National Security must be held responsible.”
Ras Mubarak

According to Ras Mubarak, some National Security Operatives have been assigned to monitor Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, hence; his call on Ghanaians to question the President in case of any misfortune.
In a Facebook post, he said, “Unimpeachable sources say thugs dressed up as National Security Operatives have been set to tail Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP. The country should hold the President, the National Security Minister and IGP personally liable if anything happens to the legislator”.
Earlier this week, a man, reported to be an official sent from the court of law was seen in a viral video, attempting to serve Mr. Ablakwa with court processes. Meanwhile, the Minority in Parliament has also condemned what it describes as government’s “naked and shameful abuse of the judiciary by certain undemocratic elements seeking to gag NDC Members of Parliament” from carrying out their constitutional mandate of oversight.
