The hunt for ministerial slots has prompted rivalry among governors, past governors, and party leaders in numerous state branches of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as governors, past governors, and party officials compete to ensure that, they gain President Tinubu favor.
According to information obtained, certain leaders within People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and New Nigeria People’s Party, among other parties, have been rumored to be vying for positions on the ministerial list, in addition to members of the APC who assert that, they supported the president during the presidential election.

However, President Tinubu is required by law to appoint his cabinet within 60 days after taking the oath of office, and submit it to the Senate for approval. According to multiple sources, the President is anticipated to submit the list his choices to the Senate once it reassembles on July 4.
The previous week, President Tinubu gave his approval to Mr. Dele Alake’s appointment as Special Adviser, Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, and Mr. Nuhu Ribadu’s appointment as Special Adviser, Security.

According to a release by the State House’s Director of Information, Abiodun Oladunjoye, the other individuals nominated are Mr. Yau Darazo, Special Adviser for Political and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Wale Edun, Special Adviser for Monetary Policies, and Mrs. Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser for Energy.
Mr. John Uwajumogu, Special Adviser for Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Mrs. Salma Anas, Special Adviser for Health, have been added to the list of special advisers. Zacchaeus Adedeji was appointed for revenue.
Regarding the nomination of special advisers, lobbyists have been given the Presidency potential candidates’ resumes, which have been collected for examination.
Despite the efforts of governors, past governors, and leaders from all parties, other sources stated President Tinubu has not revealed people who are likely to join his administration.
“I know they are collecting CVs of ministerial nominees. You know the Senate has gone on recess and adjourned sitting to July 4 and as they’re resuming, they will commence work on screening of ministerial nominees. For now, no name has been mentioned.”
An unknown Source.

Another source revealed that, party leaders had been left in the dark due to the President’s secrecy surrounding the list. “The president has not disclosed the ministerial nominees,” the person stated.
Even those connected to the president are unaware of who would probably to appear on the list. “I am sure the list is ready and unofficially, the President may have given it to the Senate President.”
Rift Within APC Hierarchy And Possibility Of Government Of National Unity

On the other hand, it is possible that, Osun State APC move to censure Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the former interior minister of the state, and a former speaker, has something to do with Osun’s vacant ministerial positions.
Aregbesola and Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, the state’s most recent governor, have a tense relationship as a result of the former’s reported attempts to undermine Oyetola’s chances of winning re-election in 2022.
According to a release from the party, The APC in Osun State opted “to deal with members involved in anti-party activities during the last governorship and general election in the state.” In a same vein, Senator Rabiu Kwakwanso, the NNPP presidential candidate, and Alhaji Umar Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, have also been at odds.

Moreover, the connection between Governor Seyi Makinde and President Tinubu is reportedly unsettling for APC members in Oyo State. One defense offered by APC members and officials has been that “genuine APC members should be appointed.” They claimed that, outsiders profited from what they gave to the party during the previous administration.

Nevertheless, concerning the possibility of the President creating a Government of National Unity, GNU, the source stated that Tinubu hoped to get others along following the election petition tribunal. “Tinubu is likely to form a Government of National Unity and it will be across the board. For now, the president wants to settle down and sort out the court cases.”
