Rev Charles Owusu To Stand For Nkoranza North MP

Rev Charles Owusu

Rev. Charles Owusu, a well-known political activist and commentator, has declared his intention to run for the position of Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nkoranza North Constituency.

Rev. Charles Owusu while speaking modestly, claimed to already be a newly elected Member of Parliament. This, he said, was because the chiefs and residents of the constituency would not let him down. He also said that he will stand in for the constituency on January 7, 2025, at the swearing-in, because he thinks the matter is already resolved.

“There are many countries on this earth, in the countries, there are countless cities and towns. So, every constituency or district has divisions. We have the chiefs who own the land and so on and so forth. So, if I have the dream to lead, serve the people, I have to go see all the chiefs, which I have already done. I am from the bloodline of chiefs, so, it was right I did that.

“For the first time in the history of this country, I’m not sure it has ever happened because all the chiefs I went to see, gave a 100% endorsement. Not even one of them said they had a problem with me. This shows that it is not the strength of man but by the Grace of God.”

Rev Charles Owusu To Stand As Independent Candidate

When questioned about his political preference, the aspiring MP said he would run as an independent candidate. He justified this by saying that he intended to serve the country, rather than political parties, as the latter came to meet the country and its traditional chiefs. He underlined that he worked for the country, as well as the residents of the Nkoranza Constituency.

In addition, he said that the people came before politics. As a result, he stated that he would like the chance to lead the people so that he, along with the people, could pool their strength and wisdom because it is the separation of the people into political parties that prevents the country from progressing.

“If you ask all past governments, they will say they all did some projects. Another would step into power and would want to review the projects by the past Gov’ t. After 3 years of reviewing the project, the proposed amount for the project would have shot up by 4 times because as things are changing, other things move forward too.

“We seem to be serving our political parties and leaving the nation with its people aside. As for me, I have come in all humility and have asked the chiefs to give me the power to serve them and the people. Someone asked me that if I go to parliament, which party will be affiliated to serve? The answer is very short…We serve a new chief and not an old one. So, whomever will be in power by then, I will serve the person too.”

Rev. Charles Owusu

He said that because Nana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the President right now, he therefore serves him. He also expressed gratitude to the President and commended him for his excellent performance. “The people always pray for him and all he does. If you rule Ghana well, that is when I’m also able to serve well,” he opined.
