Mahama’s Aide Berates NPP Over Attempt To Foil Mahama’s Reputation

Stan Xoese Dogbey

Stan Xoese Dogbey, a Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama in a scathing rebuke of what he perceived as desperate attempts to tarnish the reputation of the former President has criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party’s tactics ahead of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mr Dogbey, reacting to comments in the wake of a video circulating on social media, wherein according to him, a figure in a media house studio made outlandish claims about the National Democratic Congress flagbearer and his running mate’s personal life and heritage, dismissed the claims, describing it as baseless.

“I guess, like many of you on this blue app, you’ve seen and watched a video of a man sitting in the studios of a media house spewing some hogwash about John Mahama having married his running mate and a rather bizarre claim that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Running Mate is from the Northern Region and not Central.

“The fact that media houses are giving oxygen to such ridiculous pronouncements is not my issue today because it has become established that in Ghana, just as it is in other countries, many of these mushrooming establishments are political outlets populated by persons who would otherwise not have had anything worthy to do but for the favour granted them by the owners of such outlets”.

Stan Xoese Dogbey

He argued that the said claims about former President John Dramani Mahama and his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman are indicative of the lengths the ruling New Patriotic Party can go to undermine Mr Mahama’s candidacy.

NDC To Win December 7 Polls With Parliamentary Majority

With unyielding confidence, Mr Dogbey strongly asserted that the people of Ghana have already made their decisions clear to vote for the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama in the December 7 polls.

He vehemently expressed confidence that Mr Mahama will not only secure victory in the upcoming presidential election but will also lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to secure a resounding parliamentary majority.

Furthermore, the former Director of Communications at the Office of President under the erstwhile Mahama’s administration accused the ruling New Patriotic Party administration of dishonesty, corruption, tribalism, and a disregard for the country’s welfare.

According to Mr Dogbey, the clamour for change among several Ghanaians stems from the failings of the ruling New Patriotic Party administration, with former President John Dramani Mahama emerging as the beacon of hope for Ghana’s future.

Addressing what he described as the ruling New Patriotic Party’s deliberate attempt to sow discord in Mahama’s support base, particularly in the Ashanti Region, Mr Dogbey remains defiant.

He highlighted Mr Mahama’s longstanding relationship with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the revered Ashanti king and his respect for traditional leaders across the country as evidence of Mr Mahama’s enduring popularity in the region, despite it being a stronghold of the ruling party.

Mr Dogbe also recounted that the pair of former President John Dramani Mahama and Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang worsens the challenges of the ruling party as it struggles to push forward plans and narratives to tackle the electoral risks it has been confronted with, especially in the Ashanti Region.

He noted that a large number of the ruling New Patriotic Party traditional supporters in the Ashanti Region have lost confidence in the ruling party and have rather found Mr Mahama as a visionary, honest, reliable, trustworthy leader, who is keen on building a better and prosperous Ghana for all citizens to benefit.

“The fact remains that Bawumia cannot match Mahama’s popularity and acceptance in Ashanti despite the region being the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party. Not even the planned distribution of graders and other equipment to open roads and grade them in abandoned communities of Ashanti and Ahafo will bring you any good outcomes”.

Stan Xoese Dogbey

In a sharp critique of what he further described as the governing party’s propaganda against former President John Dramani Mahama, Mr Dogbey accused the New Patriotic Party of resorting to discredited personalities and concocting stories in a futile attempt to derail Mr Mahama’s momentum.

He warned against further smear campaigns and vows to counter any attempts at electoral manipulation, including those he alleged involved the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

In addition, the Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama challenged the notion that wisdom inherently comes with age, arguing that some individuals may go through life without gaining any real insight.

Drawing from personal experiences, Mr Dogbey posited that those behind the smear campaigns against the National Democratic Congress flagbearer and his running mate lack the wisdom to discern truth from falsehood.

In closing, Mr Dogbey called for a focus on substantive issues facing the nation rather than succumbing to divisive tactics ahead of the December 7 polls.
