According to Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, the Ghana Police Service, under the leadership of Dampare and allegedly influenced by NPP loyalists, unjustly detained the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for Awutu Senya East, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, overnight due to a purported error in her gun license document, which Ablakwa implies is a trivial pretext.

Hon. Ablakwa sarcastically commended the police, for being an exemplary service and an epitome of efficiency, thoroughness, and bravery and a true masterpiece of reform. “21-gun-salute for our newly reformed, meticulous, diligent, and fearless Ghana Police Service”, he added.

Hon. Ablakwa pointed out the irony that the same police service that detained Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor over a minor issue with her gun license document has failed to take action against a high-ranking official with dual identities, involved in the controversial National Cathedral project, suggesting a lack of equal application of the law and a selective approach to justice.

Hon. Ablakwa specifically mentioned Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, who allegedly uses a second identity, Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, and holds a position on the board of trustees of the National Cathedral project, appointed by President Akufo-Addo, despite being embroiled in a controversial dual identity scandal.

“As my unimpeachable parliamentary oversight revealed — in the astonishing case of Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng and Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, he has successfully obtained various IDs including Ghana Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, TINs and a Diplomatic Passport under those separate identities. He single-handedly made nonsense of all the grandiose claims and billion-dollar investments in an era of so-called digitalization”.

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

Hon. Ablakwa emphasized that the case of Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng and Kwabena Adu Gyamfi’s dual identity scandal is a grave matter, far beyond a simple clerical error, highlighting the severity and alleged criminality of the situation.

Hon. Ablakwa pointed out that, despite widespread public outcry and formal complaints, the advisor to the President and Vice President, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng (aka Kwabena Adu Gyamfi), has not been summoned by the Ghana Police Service, which is controlled by the ruling NPP, for even a brief 5-minute questioning in the comfort of the IGP’s office, let alone a thorough investigation.

Police Leadership Accused of Abandoning Integrity

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa passionately queried whether the leadership of the Ghana Police Service has abandoned its moral compass, integrity, and professional standards.

Hon Ablakwa implied that the police’s inaction in the face of egregious wrongdoing is a stark betrayal of their sworn duties and ethical responsibilities.

“As the now famous “Kasoa Yaa Asantewaa”, Naa Koryoo is subjected to brutish police harassment over a spelling mistake, the police hierarchy continues to wine and dine with Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng and Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, attending his double birthday celebrations in a year, and offering him iron-clad police protection, even though an Accra Human Rights Court has described his conduct as purely criminal”.

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

Hon. Ablakwa emphasized that Ghana’s institutions will forfeit public trust and respect if they persist in embracing hypocrisy, double standards, and blatant partisanship, rather than upholding impartiality, fairness, and integrity, which are essential for maintaining public confidence and credibility.

Hon. Ablakwa lamented that Ghana’s institutions are degenerating into a state of chaos and disorder, characteristic of “a banana republic”, where the rule of law is disregarded, and corruption, nepotism, and partisan manipulation reign supreme, undermining the very fabric of democracy.

“But it shall not be long — true justice and accountability shall be restored in Nkrumah’s Ghana”. – Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

Hon. Ablakwa quoted timeless wisdom, “God is not neutral between good and evil”, implying that the Almighty takes a stance against injustice, corruption, and oppression, and expects humans to do the same, rather than remaining indifferent or complicit in the face of wrongdoing.
