Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy Poised To Work Under Trump’s Strong Leadership

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Today, July 10, 2024, has been busy day of meetings for Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy as he met a number of leaders on the sidelines of the NATO summit.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy said that he signed an agreement on security cooperation with Luxembourg’s Prime Minister, Luc Frieden to “continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine.”

“The Agreement focuses on political and value-based cooperation between our countries,” Zelenskyy said, adding, “I thank Luxembourg for choosing justice and peace.”

As a co-leader of the IT Capability Coalition, Luxembourg will support Ukraine in cybersecurity training, specifically by making its leading educational institutions’ capabilities available to our country.

The agreement also mentions expanded cooperation in the defense industry.

Luxembourg will assist in attracting funding sources and will support Ukraine’s efforts to integrate its defense industry with NATO and EU defense and security standards.

In the document, Luxembourg clearly reaffirms its support for Ukraine’s future membership in the EU and NATO.

The Ukrainian President also met the new Netherlands Prime Minister, Dick Schoof.

“Our discussion focused on bolstering Ukraine’s air defenses, addressing Ukraine’s defense needs, developing defense cooperation, and planning the training of Ukrainian pilots,” Zelenskyy wrote on the social media platform.

“I am grateful for the unwavering principled position of the Netherlands in supporting our country,” he added.

The leaders condemned the Russian attack on the “Okhmatdyt” hospital and other civilian facilities in Ukraine.

Dick Schoof, the new Dutch Prime Minister, said that he assured Zelenskyy once again of the Netherlands’ continued support for Ukraine: “whatever is needed, for as long as it’s needed.”

“For instance, the Netherlands is working with the US, Germany, Italy and Romania to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence, and the Ministry of Defence has just announced that in the coming years more funds will be set aside for F-16 ammunition,” he added.

Adding to the string of bilateral meetings held on the NATO summit’s sidelines, Zelenskyy met German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to discuss Ukraine’s air defences and the situation on the front lines in his country’s war with Russia.

“We discussed strategies to counter Russian guided bomb carriers and reconnaissance drones,” the Ukrainian President said on X.

He also thanked Scholz for agreeing to deliver additional Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine.

They also focused on the results of the first Peace Summit and future measures for their implementation.

During the meeting, the practical implementation of the G7 decision to allocate $50 billion to Ukraine from frozen Russian assets was also discussed.

No Change In UK’s Support For Ukraine With New Government

Moreover, Keir Starmer, the new British Prime Minister, met with Zelenskyy.

Starmer disclosed that during the meeting, he made it absolutely clear to Zelenskyy that as far as the UK is concerned, “the change of government makes no difference to the support that we will provide.”

“We’d been united on this when we were in opposition, and it was really important to me to be able to affirm that face-to face at the meeting,” he emphasized.

He also said that the summit was a chance “to discuss with President Zelenskyy what further support he needs and to use our opportunity here with our allies to make sure that that support is agreed.”

“And to reinforce, in a sense as a message to Putin, the resolve of Nato, bigger now than it’s ever been, more united than it’s ever been and absolutely clear eyed about the threat of Russian aggression,” the British Prime Minister added
