Female Hip-Hop artist, Eno Barony has responded to Graphic Showbiz’s recently compiled and published list of the greatest rappers.

Eno Barony claims that she wasn’t shocked to see her name listed because she is a legendary female rapper in Ghana.

“Because the likes of Obrafour, I’ve left a very big legacy in Ghana. Reggie Rockstone, Okyeame Kwame, and others have all left a big legacy and I’ve also left my legacy especially when you talk about rap music in Ghana.

“The history I have set and the records I have made as a female rapper is going to be on the lips of everybody forever and you can never mention rap music without my name. With the things that I have done in the music scene, I’m not really surprised that Graphic Showbiz included my name in their list of the 12 greatest rappers in the history of Ghana.”

The renowned Ghanaian rapper urged for the institution of a ‘Female Artiste of the Year’ category at the Ghana Music Awards.

She expressed her conviction that this category would be a game-changer for women in the music industry.

Eno Barony believes that recognizing female talent in a dedicated category would not only provide a much-needed boost but also create a more inclusive and equitable environment.

“Because that will augment our work and the craft of the females will feel appreciated and I know it’ll come. A lot of females keep coming into the music scene and that category will surely come just that we need the push from the media. There should be support for the females especially those in the rap game because the louder they become the more the category will be created for them.”

She urged the award organizers of the awards to consider her proposal, highlighting its potential to elevate the status of female artists and enrich the Ghanaian music scene.

Rapper Refutes Claims of Permanently Relocating Abroad

Award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Eno Barony, known in private life as Ruth Eno Adjoa Amankwah Nyame, recently revealed that she has no intentions of leaving her job and permanently relocating abroad.

Despite the challenges faced by musicians in Ghana, many of whom are opting to move abroad for better opportunities, Eno Barony remains steadfast in her decision to stay in Ghana.

The ‘Heavy Load’ rapper emphasized her preference for traveling abroad for performances and then returning to Ghana, rather than seeking permanent residency overseas.

“I have never thought about abandoning my music career to go and stay abroad permanently and it’s something I’ve not thought about. When you travel abroad and come back to Ghana it’s nice, that one you’re going to perform somewhere abroad and then after you come back which I prefer.

“I don’t think I have ever thought of it that I will seek a visa to go stay abroad permanently and come to Ghana once in a while as for that I’ve not thought about it.”

However, Eno Barony challenged the notion that secular musicians do not spread the word of God through their music.

She argued that many secular artists, including herself, often convey messages of faith and positivity in their songs, sometimes even more effectively than traditional gospel artists.

“I sing gospel in church, I sing gospel to praise my Maker. And let’s be real, my rap is also gospel because I’ve been preaching the gospel of hard work, perseverance, and hope. The Bible says it clearly, ‘The hand that does not work, does not eat’.

“So, it’s not just about living the message and spreading love, positivity, and encouragement in every way possible. And that’s exactly what I’m doing, answering my calling in a different space, with a different beat, but with the same passion and purpose.”

Eno Barony

The rapper urged music lovers and Christians to broaden their understanding of what constitutes a gospel song, recognizing that uplifting lyrics and themes of hope and redemption can be just as impactful as traditional gospel music.
