Republican Presidential nominee, Donald Trump will deliver remarks on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Howell, Michigan.
Trump is scheduled to speak about “crime and safety” at Livingston County Sheriff’s County in Howell.
It will be Trump’s sixth visit to Michigan this year.
Howell is a city with historical links to the Ku Klux Klan.
Last month, about a dozen white supremacists chanted “We love Hitler. We love Trump” and carried signs reading “White Lives Matter” during a march through downtown Howell.
Kamala Harris’ campaign in a statement criticized Trump for planning the event in Howell while failing to condemn what it called a “blatant display of racism and antisemitism in his name.”
“The racists and white supremacists who marched in Trump’s name last month in Howell have all watched him praise Hitler, defend neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, and tell far-right extremists to ‘stand back and stand by. Trump’s actions have encouraged them, and Michiganders can expect more of the same when he comes to town.”
Harris Campaign
A Trump campaign spokesperson rejected criticism of the site of the event, promising Trump would speak against “hate of any form.”
While Trump heads to Howell, Michigan, for a crime and safety event, his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance hosts something similar in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
As they did the day before, Trump’s campaign and surrogates — including Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida — plan a media briefing on the sidelines of the DNC in Chicago, with the daily theme of “Make America Safe Again.”
Democrats Heap Criticism On Trump
Meanwhile, on the first night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), the Democrats were united against Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump.
They highlighted the former President’s legal troubles and questioned his morality. And they argued that his policy beliefs would benefit the wealthy while Harris’ would better serve working people.
Former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton described Trump’s legal travails.
“Donald Trump fell asleep at his own trial, and when he woke up, he made his own kind of history — the first person to run for President with 34 felony convictions!”

Clinton also slammed Trump’s presidency while praising Harris’ leadership.
“Kamala cares, cares about kids and families, cares about America. Donald only cares about himself,” Clinton said.
“On her first day in court, Kamala said five words that still guide her: ‘Kamala Harris, for the people.’ That is something that Donald Trump will never understand. So it is no surprise, is it, that he is lying about Kamala’s record. He’s mocking her name and her laugh — it sounds familiar. But we have him on the run now.
“So no matter what the polls say, we can’t let up. We can’t get driven down in crazy conspiracy rabbit holes. We have to fight for the truth. We have to fight for Kamala as she will fight for us.”

Additionally, Democratic Senator, Raphael Warnock’s speech at the Democratic National Convention focused on Trump’s denial of the 2020 election results and the January 6 insurrection — with the lawmaker describing Trump’s lies as “a sickness.”
Warnock said that the country must “choose between the promise of January 5 and the peril of January 6.”
He described Trump as “a plague on the American conscience” and a “clear and present threat.”
U.S President, Joe Biden also took direct aim at Trump
“Folks, how can we have the strongest economy in the world without the best infrastructure in the world? Donald Trump promised infrastructure week every week after four years, and he never built a damn thing.”
