Esther Smith Advises Colleagues To Take Gospel Ministry Serious

Esther Smith

Iconic Ghanaian gospel musician, Esther Smith, has stated her stance on the involvement of gospel music.

According to her, gospel music must be taken very seriously because it has more than what meets the eye.

“I always say that when it comes to gospel music, we should take it seriously. It’s not I want to be famous; I want everybody to see me. We should take it seriously because there are so many attacks in it.”

Esther Smith

Comparing the genre of hiplife and gospel, she explained that gospel music is about ministration.

“When it comes to hiplife, they are going on their way but when it comes to praises and worship, you are ministering Christ, the anointed one to the people, to the sick, so we need to take it very seriously.”

Esther Smith shared her experiences with spiritual attacks, highlighting the need for gospel singers to be spiritually prepared.

“I always say that gospel ministration is a spiritual exercise, not something to be taken lightly. When I minister through my song, ‘Have faith in God and He will change your situation,’ if I am not spiritually strong, the negative spirit affecting someone’s life as they listen to my song can attack me.”

Madam Smith also noted that spiritual attacks are a frequent challenge for gospel artists, warning those who enter the field seeking fame and popularity that they could be putting themselves in danger.

She recounted a recent experience during the organization of her music concert, which saw her team facing various spiritual challenges.

“Even during the music concert we are organizing, we’ve faced several challenges. For instance, before we arrived at the Kumasi concert venue, the front tires of our car burst on the day of the event. After the show, although many cars were parked at the location, we found a black fowl with wet feathers on our car.”

Despite these challenges, Madam Smith expressed her faith in divine protection and her belief that God helps her overcome all obstacles.

The host of Asempa FM’s current affairs show ‘Ekosiisen’, Philip Osei Bonsu, popularly known as O.B., labeled renowned gospel musician Esther Smith as the “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) in Ghana’s gospel music industry.

O.B. praised Esther Smith for her outstanding contributions to the gospel music scene in Ghana.

“I’ve said before that when it comes to the gospel industry in Ghana, I’d say you [Esther Smith] are the Greatest of All Time (GOAT). And this is a title you should wear with pride because you’ve worked hard to earn it.”

O.B.

He highlighted Esther Smith’s impressive discography, noting that every song from each album became a hit.

“I mean, you have nine albums and almost all the songs on each of those albums were a hit. So this is a crown you should wear proudly,” he added.

Responding to the accolade, Esther Smith took a modest stance in response to the accolade.

“I mostly want to be modest about it because such titles bring about jealousy. So for me, what is important is for the song to touch hearts and inspire people. So that is my priority.”

O.B. defended his stance, insisting that Esther Smith has the prove to show for taking on the title.

“When someone has worked, the person needs to be celebrated, and I tell you, Esther Smith, you have worked, and there is a body of evidence to show for it. So you deserve the accolades you are getting.”

O.B.

Esther Smith, known for her powerful vocals and inspiring lyrics, has been a significant figure in the Ghanaian gospel music scene for over two decades.

Her music has touched the hearts of many, earning her numerous awards and accolades both locally and internationally.

Esther Smith has assured fans that she is fully prepared to deliver an unforgettable experience in Accra, urging patrons to come out in their numbers to support her.

“I’m ready to give it my all and lift the spirits of everyone present,” she said.

The concert promises to be a night of worship, praise, and inspiration, with Esther Smith’s powerful voice and captivating stage presence set to leave a lasting impact on all who attend.
