According to Joyce Mogtari Bawah, Special Aide to John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has arrived in Goaso for a two-day campaign tour of the Ahafo Region.
Joyce Bawah highlighted the NDC leader’s optimism about the Ahafo region’s prospects, citing its abundant natural resources and resilient communities as key drivers of growth.
She noted that according to the leader, the region has immense potential for development, a view supported by the region’s significant progress just three years after its creation.
“During the two-day #Mahama4Change2024 tour, Mahama will share his vision for the Ahafo Region’s vibrant agriculture, mining, and forestry sectors. Despite all these resources, the area is still at a crossroads with bad roads, poor infrastructure, and worsening poverty levels”.

According to Bawah, Mahama and the NDC’s vision for the Ahafo Region prioritizes empowering farmers to unlock the area’s vast agricultural potential.
This vision involves establishing farmer service centers, providing essential resources and support to farmers, and revolutionizing the agricultural sector.
The NDC stalwart stated that enhancing agricultural productivity is key to empowering farmers and boosting the economy, and this can be achieved through better access to modern farming techniques and financial support via Farmer Services Centers.
As such, she indicated that by providing these essential resources, farmers will be well-equipped to thrive and contribute significantly to the economy, ultimately driving growth and development in the agricultural sector.
She further indicated that John Mahama plans to create jobs in the Ahafo region is a key pillar of his economic transformation agenda.
According to Bawah, Mahama aims to drive economic growth through technology and digitalization, with a focus on establishing agribusiness as a major economic anchor.
This initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities for the youth in the region.
Joyce Bawah highlighted John Mahama’s plan to boost the Ahafo region’s economy by investing in local industries, particularly mining and agro-processing, to create sustainable jobs for youth under the 24-hour economy initiative.
This strategic investment aims to reduce unemployment and stimulate economic growth, aligning with Mahama’s broader vision to transform Ghana’s agricultural sector and implement a $10 billion BIG PUSH plan for economic development.

Furthermore, Joyce Mogtari Bawah announced that the NDC flagbearer plans to introduce a 24-hour economy initiative in the Ahafo region, aiming to stimulate business development, growth, and job creation.
This bold move is expected to not only boost the local economy but also provide a significant surge in employment opportunities, breaking conventional barriers and fostering inclusive growth.
“Improving Infrastructure: Work to upgrade roads, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. A strong infrastructure network is critical for accessibility and will pave the way for better services and opportunities”.
