The Ghana Police Service has rolled out a nationwide security strategy aimed at ensuring the safety and protection of lives and property throughout the country amid the celebration of this year’s Easter Celebration.

In a press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi announced the implementation of “comprehensive security measures” designed to guarantee a peaceful Easter celebration across all regions.

The statement noted that police personnel have been strategically deployed both on the roads and within communities to manage the expected surge in human and vehicular traffic, maintain public order, and respond swiftly to emergencies or incidents of crime.

The police are working proactively to anticipate and neutralise any potential threats that could mar the festive mood of the holiday period.

A key highlight of this year’s security operation is the heightened presence of security forces in the Kwahu area, where the famous Easter Paragliding Festival is set to draw thousands of local and international visitors.

The Kwahu Easter festivities, known for their vibrant street carnivals, musical concerts, hiking adventures, and the high-profile paragliding event, have over the years become a national tourism highlight.

In response, the police announced “special security arrangements” to protect revellers and ensure law and order is upheld throughout the event.

ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi emphasized the police’s commitment to providing a secure environment for both residents and tourists participating in the various scheduled Easter activities.

“Officers have been deployed on roads and within communities to provide security for the Easter activities in all regions of the country.”

According to her, the specialized deployments in the Kwahu enclave are intended to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Public Partnership

Beyond physical deployments, the police are also calling on the public to partner with them in safeguarding the festivities.

Citizens are being urged to remain vigilant, take personal safety precautions, and report any suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station or through official police communication channels.

According to the release, citizens may report incidents through social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter (@GhPoliceService), share videos and pictures via WhatsApp (0206639121), or call emergency numbers—112, 191, or 18555.

The Police Service is also promoting road safety during this high-travel season, a time when road traffic accidents often spike.

With increased vehicular movements expected, especially to and from major Easter event locations, these measures aim to prevent traffic violations, curb reckless driving, and respond swiftly to traffic-related emergencies.

In wishing Ghanaians a joyful holiday, the Police Administration reaffirmed its readiness to ensure the Easter celebrations are devoid of disturbances and criminal incidents.

“We urge everyone to be security conscious, remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police”.

This Easter, like previous years, presents a significant test of the country’s public safety systems, particularly in the face of evolving security challenges such as petty crime, cyber fraud, road accidents, and public disorder.

The police’s proactive engagement with the public through multiple communication platforms reflects a growing emphasis on community policing and intelligence-led operations.

With reinforced policing, visible presence on the roads, and special coverage of high-traffic areas and tourism hotspots, the Ghana Police Service is signalling its dedication to a secure Easter celebration.

The public, in turn, is encouraged to play its part—by staying alert, being responsible, and working hand-in-hand with law enforcement.
