Jim Iyke Reflects on Ever-Changing People

Nigerian actor Jim Iyke has offered a heartfelt reflection on love, growth, and the painful truth about trying to reconnect with past relationships.

The veteran actor opened up about what he called a “social experiment” he embarked on after his divorce—one that involved reaching out to a few exes to see if old flames could be reignited.

“After my divorce, I met up with three or four women from my past—those I had really great times with. I thought, maybe they’re the ones I should be with now. Sometimes I think about people I used to like and ask myself, ‘What did I even see in them?’ And I’m sure they wonder the same about me. We’ve all evolved.”

He concluded with a sobering truth that resonated with many: “What I realized is, you can never meet the same person twice. Life moves on. People change. And so have I.”

His emotional honesty has sparked conversations online, with many fans applauding his maturity and ability to speak openly about healing, change, and moving forward after heartbreak.

The Nigerian actor also opened up about the challenges of finding lasting love as a public figure, revealing that fame often complicates relationships and people’s expectations.

The actor chuckled and delivered a thoughtful perspective when the host posed a blunt but honest question on why women can’t seem to stay with him.“You twisted that question very well, and I like it,” he said, smiling.

“But I live an extremely private life. What people don’t know is, everyone in the public space should have three lives—the public life, the private life, and the secret life. That’s how I’ve survived over two decades at the top.”

Jim noted that public access to celebrities often distorts reality, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. “Look at me—do I look like someone starving for love? I don’t think so,” he said confidently.

The Nigerian actor broke his silence on claims made by Ghanaian socialite Akuapem Poloo that he stormed out of the 2024 Ghana Movie Awards.

The actor appeared unbothered and somewhat amused by the allegation. “I don’t know who Poloo is,” Jim Iyke said with a smirk, dismissing the claim outright.

He explained that his appearance at the event was strictly based on a prior agreement with his close friend Fred Nuamah, the event organizer.

“Fred is a dear friend of mine. I told him I’d pass through briefly. I had a meeting that same evening, and three cars were scheduled to pick me up.”

Jim clarified that he had informed Fred of his plan in advance: “I said I’ll breeze in for an hour or two, then leave once the meeting team arrives.”

Dismissing Poloo’s comments as baseless, he added, “Maybe next time, Ghana Poloo or whatever should understand the full spectrum of what’s happening before forming opinions.”

He further noted that he hadn’t attended any awards event—not even in Nigeria—for over five years due to his tight schedule and location. “I live in Abuja, not even Lagos, where most events happen. I’ve been too busy for these things,” Jim stated.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian actress and socialite Akuapem Poloo took to social media to respond to Nigerian actor Jim Iyke’s recent comments in an interview that he didn’t even know who she was.

In a post on Instagram, Akuapem Poloo shared a stunning photo of herself accompanied by a message that appeared to be a direct jab at Jim Iyke. Her post read: “🤣The only person who will say she doesn’t know me and it will hurt me is My Twinny @iamcardib 😍 aside her I don’t care who will open mouth say I don’t know Poloo 🤣🤷🏾‍♀️”
