President John Dramani Mahama has extended warm Christmas greetings to Ghanaians, using the festive occasion to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to resetting the country’s development trajectory and restoring confidence in public governance.

In a goodwill message marking the season, the President described the celebration as his first Christmas with the nation since returning to office and expressed gratitude for the renewed mandate entrusted to him by the electorate.

“It’s my first Christmas with you, as your come-back President and I am filled with gratitude for the trust you have placed in my government,” President Mahama said. He noted that the festive season offered an opportunity for reflection, unity and renewed resolve as the country works to overcome economic and social challenges.

The President reiterated that his government remains firmly committed to the Resetting Ghana Agenda, which he said is designed to place the country on a path of inclusive growth, job creation, accountability, and shared prosperity.

According to him, the agenda is not merely a slogan but a framework guiding policy decisions and national priorities at a critical moment in Ghana’s development.

He acknowledged the economic progress that his administration has made over the past 11 months and assured Ghanaians that his administration is working tirelessly to revive economic activity and stabilise public finances.

The President said government efforts are focused on completing stalled development projects, expanding critical infrastructure, and creating opportunities that will allow the economy to generate decent jobs, particularly for young people.

He added that the spirit of the season should encourage patience, resilience, and optimism, even in the face of present hardships. President Mahama’s Christmas message blended policy reassurance with a call for national solidarity.

He urged Ghanaians to use the season to renew their commitment to shared values such as compassion, generosity and mutual support, noting that these principles are essential to national renewal. He concluded his message by wishing citizens a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Vice President’s Felicitations and Message of Hope

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang also extended Christmas greetings to the nation, echoing similar themes of hope, service and unity. In her message, she reflected on the deeper meaning of the season and its relevance to Ghana’s ongoing efforts to rebuild and reset.

“May this sacred season remind us of the profound gifts of hope, peace, love, and compassion that the Saviour brought to humanity,” the Vice President said. She encouraged citizens to allow these values to guide their actions, particularly toward those who are vulnerable or in need.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang called on Ghanaians to use the Christmas period as an opportunity to reach out to others, share resources and extend kindness across communities. She noted that such acts of solidarity are especially important as the country undertakes the demanding task of economic recovery and institutional reform.

“In this spirit, let us reach out to the vulnerable, share with those in need, and extend kindness to one another,” she said. The Vice President linked the moral message of Christmas to the broader national agenda, emphasising that rebuilding Ghana requires not only policy changes but also a renewed sense of collective responsibility and civic duty.

She further expressed hope that the light of Christmas would inspire citizens to greater service, harmony and progress as the government and people work together to build the Ghana they desire. Like the President, she ended her message by wishing Ghanaians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

The Christmas messages from the President and Vice President come at a time when the Mahama administration is seeking to rebuild public trust and momentum following its return to office.

With expectations high and challenges significant, the leadership used the occasion to strike a tone of reassurance, humility and resolve, framing the Resetting Ghana Agenda as a shared national journey rather than a purely governmental project.

With families across the country marking the festive season, the messages underscore the administration’s effort to align policy ambitions with the enduring values of unity, compassion, and hope that Christmas represents for many Ghanaians.
