The Church of Pentecost (COP) has published a schedule for a planting exercise to support Ghana’s ambitious project dubbed “the Green Ghana Project.”

The leadership of the Church and the Executive Council hold the strong belief that God, in His wisdom, created the heavens and the earth and everything in them. This includes plants (trees) for varied purposes. He then entrusted humans with the task of hedging and maintaining the plants and all other things He had created.

For this reason, the Pentecost Church has chosen to plant 1,000,000 trees nationwide as part of her Environmental Care campaign. The Environmental Care Campaign forms part of the five-year strategic vision of the Church (Vision 2023) dubbed “Possessing the Nations.”

The planting exercise would be organized together with the Forestry Commission in the months of May and June 2021. For an effective, concise, and sustainable exercise, the various ministries of the church have been brought on board to lead in the planting, nurturing and maintenance process.

According to the COP, the trees would be planted in collaboration with the Forestry Commission starting May 29, 2021. On this day, the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) would lead the church to plant 50,000 seedlings across the country.

On Saturday, June 5, 2021, the Evangelism Ministry would continue to plant another 100,000 seedlings across the nation. The pastorate, Women’s Ministry & Children’s Ministry which would also take turns to plant 500,000 seedlings on Friday, June 11, 2021.

The Youth Ministry would climax the exercise on Saturday, 12th June 2021, planting 350,000 seedlings nationwide.

The Pentecost Church lead by Apostle Eric Nyamekye, therefore calls on all interested persons to join in the exercise to paint the country green.

The Green Ghana Project

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor launched the Green Ghana Project last 2 months as part of government’s effort to preserve the environment.  The rationale of the project is to plant five million trees in a day across the country. Significantly, the Green Ghana project aims to increase the country’s forest cover.
