Iran has denied US President Donald Trump’s claim that Iran’s “new regime President” has asked for a ceasefire, as the United States and Israel continue their war on the country.
Trump claimed that Iran has asked for a ceasefire, saying that he will consider it when the Strait of Hormuz is open.
“Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE! We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!”

However, Iranian officials rejected those claims, saying no such request was made.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi was reported by an Iranian news agency as saying that the country has made no ceasefire proposal. The news agency reported that Araghchi described the five-point plan allegedly proposed by Iran as media “speculation.”
He is also reported to have said the war will continue until “the aggressor is punished and full compensation is paid to Iran.”
Trump’s claim comes just hours before he is set to deliver a speech at 9pm local time in Washington, DC, on Wednesday (01:00 GMT on Thursday) to provide what the White House said will be “an important update on Iran.”
Trump administration has faced mounting pressure over the US-Israeli war on Iran amid soaring global energy prices and widespread opposition to the conflict among the US public.
On Monday, Trump told reporters at the White House that prices would “come tumbling down” whenever the US decides to end the war, something he said could happen within the next two to three weeks.
However, the US President’s threat on Wednesday to continue “blasting Iran into oblivion” until the Strait of Hormuz is reopened has raised questions about whether the war will end as soon as Trump has claimed.
The strait, a critical Gulf waterway through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquified natural gas supplies transit, has been effectively shuttered as a result of the war, raising serious concerns about a global economic downturn.
Iran Says US Drawn Into Conflict Due To Miscalculation
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei said that the US was drawn into the conflict due to a miscalculation and provocation by Israel. Baghaei’s remarks were reported by an Iranian news agency, citing an interview with a newspaper.
“No one in the world can trust American diplomacy anymore. They use diplomacy and negotiations only as a prelude to imposing their demands or using force.”

He also claimed that Iran’s new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is in perfect health and that he had not appeared in public due to the ongoing war.
Baghaei said that the Iranian public is not ready to talk about negotiations or diplomacy with the US, which used previous negotiations as a prelude to imposing its demands and using force.
He said the strike on Shajareh Tayyebeh Girls’ School in Minab, which killed at least 170 people, is just one example of the atrocities the US has committed in the past month.
