Cesc Fabregas has dismissed speculation linking him with a return to Chelsea as head coach, insisting his full focus remains firmly on his current role at Italian Serie A side Como.

Reports surfaced earlier this week following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior suggesting the former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder could be a candidate for the vacant position at Stamford Bridge.

Given Fabregas’ history with the club and his growing reputation as a coach, the rumors quickly gathered momentum. However, the Spaniard has wasted no time in shutting down the conversation, making it clear that he has no interest in entertaining such discussions at this stage of the season.

His response underlined both his professionalism and his commitment to the project he has begun in Italy. When Fabregas was asked directly about the reports, he quickly ruled them out.

“I would be crazy to think of anything else rather than these next 5 games and getting my team into Europe for the first time in history. I have not seen or heard anything comments that my president said other than he told me he values me very highly.”

His remarks reflect a manager determined to avoid distractions, especially at a critical point in the campaign where every result carries significant weight for his team’s ambitions.

Focus Remains on Strong Finish with Como

Fabregas, still in the early phase of his managerial journey, emphasized that his priority lies in guiding Como to the strongest possible finish this season.

Como, a side that secured promotion to the top-flight two seasons ago have been one of the standout stories in Serie A this campaign, defying expectations with a series of impressive performances under Fabregas.

The former La Masia graduate noted that he staying at the club will be the most logical decision. “I believe I will continue my chapter as Como head coach,” he added, reinforcing his intention to remain with the club and continue building on the progress already made.

The 2010 World Cup winner’s connection to Chelsea is undeniable. He joined the club from Barcelona in 2014 and became a central figure in their midfield during a successful period.

Across four-and-a-half seasons, he helped the team secure two Premier League titles, first under Jose Mourinho in the 2014/15 campaign and later under Antonio Conte in the 2016/17 season. He also played a role in their FA Cup triumph under Conte.

Known for his vision, passing range, and intelligence on the ball, Fabregas registered 22 goals and 57 assists during his time in London. Those qualities have translated into his managerial style, where emphasis on structure, control, and technical quality has been evident in Como’s play.

Since taking charge, Fabregas has overseen a remarkable transformation at the Italian club. After securing promotion to the top flight only last season, Como have emerged as genuine contenders for European football, competing confidently against some of the league’s established sides.

Currently sitting fifth in the Serie A standings, Como remain in the hunt for a UEFA Champions League spot. With five matches remaining, they are five points behind fourth-placed Juventus, leaving them with a realistic, though challenging, path to qualification.

Despite their impressive position, recent form has become a concern. Fabregas’ side are winless in their last four matches across all competitions, suffering three defeats and recording one draw.

This downturn has come at a crucial moment in the season, where consistency is vital. Their upcoming fixture against Genoa presents an opportunity to regain momentum and reassert their credentials in the race for the top four. A positive result could reignite belief within the squad and keep their European ambitions alive heading into the final stretch.

Meanwhile, Chelsea continue their search for stability following Rosenior’s departure. The club is expected to evaluate several candidates as it looks to rebuild and establish a clear direction. While Fabregas’ name has naturally entered the conversation due to his history and potential, his stance leaves little room for immediate speculation.

His refusal to engage with rumors highlights a manager intent on earning recognition through his work rather than chasing opportunities prematurely. As the season approaches its conclusion, both Como and Chelsea face defining moments. Fabregas’ immediate challenge is clear, to halt his team’s dip in form and push for a historic Champions League qualification.

If he succeeds, the speculation about his future will only intensify. For now, though, he remains exactly where he wants to be, focused, grounded, and fully committed to the task in front of him.
