Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Republic of Ghana

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has averred that the opposition party National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cultivated a habit of consciously attacking the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) government projects and policies.

According to him, the best group to tackle these deliberate criticisms from the NDC is the Majority Caucus in Parliament since they are in the know of the accomplishment of the party.

“The propaganda machinery of the NDC will be oiled using their representation in Parliament. Every conceivable government intervention or intention will be seriously attacked. They will question the government’s promises, they will question the government’s achievement and they will question the government’s intention. They will unleash these attacks both on the floor of Parliament and outside the floor. There is no better group to respond to these attacks to set the record straight and to match them boot for ‘chalewote’ than the Majority Caucus of Parliament. So, we need to tell our story in terms of what we have been able to accomplish.”

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

Speaking at a seminar for NPP Majority Caucus and members of the Executive at Mpraeso in the Eastern Region, Dr. Bawumia encourgaged that both members of Parliament and the Executive should maintain good relations in order to assist the government to achieve the promises it has made to Ghanaians.

This, according to him, will enable the government to earn the trust of Ghanaians in order to continue leading the country.

The Vice President further revealed that prior to NPP’s administration in 2017, Ghanaians were already experiencing hardships in the country.

He, however, indicated that even though not absolutely, the NPP government has been able to relieve the sufferings of Ghanaians to some extent.

As a result, he described the government’s performance as marvellous.

“We need to let Ghanaians know how we have been able to reduce, not completely eliminated, but to reduce the hardships. The hardships were there before we came into government in 2017 and we have done so much and this is an area we should not shy away from. In the area of social interventions, our government has been just marvellous.”

Meanwhile, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Deputy Majority Leader, pointed out that irrespective of the enormous interventions by the Akufo-Addo led government, most Ghanaians linger in pain and hardship.

Subsequently, he urged the NPP government to take some of these concerns of the populace into consideration.

“While these concerns are sometimes unfounded, unpalatable and unjust, there are times that they are the plain truth. By this, I mean that they are realities facing many of the people who voted us to power to serve them and our country. Therefore, I urge every one of us to see such comments, the good or bad, as reminders. While we have done a lot at various levels to transform our country and the economy for the better, there is still much work to be done.”

Hon.Alexander Afenyo-Markin

The Deputy Majority Leader emphasized on the need for the Party’s communicators to constructively inform the entire public about the countless accomplishments of the government.
