Internationally celebrated vocalist, Nomcebo Zikode has addressed her ‘beef’ with Master KG as she claims she still hasn’t been paid anything for their hit single, ‘Jerusalema’.
Responding to a Facebook user who said he hopes the singer and producer can one day put their differences behind and work together again, Nomcebo made it clear that she has no issues with the producer. She also disclosed that she was in communication with her former record label, Open Mic Productions, about receiving her cut of the ‘Jerusalema’ royalties.
“I don’t have any problem with him [Master KG]. I’ve never ever said anything to him besides sending out the statement which was clear that I need my money from the company, not from him. I’ve been trying to talk to the company many times with no luck. They’ve been saying the song didn’t make any money so there’s no money.
“I then decided to get a lawyer to help me. So, I don’t know until today why he decided to respond before the company responds, as he was not my boss/owner of the company but my colleague”.
The ‘Jerusalema’ saga
It can be recalled that Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode’s lives changed forever after the release of their hit single ‘Jerusalema’. The song became a global sensation and currently has over 449 million views on YouTube.
Unfortunately for Master KG and Nombeco, the joy turned sour when Nomcebo claimed that she had not received “a cent” for the song.
In July, Nomcebo took to Twitter to claim that she had not received any royalties from ‘Jerusalema’ despite its success around the world.
Reacting to Nomcebo’s claims, Master KG clapped back noting that the vocalist was asking for more than what they agreed on.
According to Master KG, the agreement between him and Nomcebo was that they spilt the royalties equally, 50/50. However, Master KG claimed Nomcebo wanted 70% while he receives 30%.
“I’m tired of being hated for lies,” Master KG wrote in a Twitter post.

A portion of a statement from Open Mic Productions also read: “We can confirm that during the creation of the song Master KG (the main artist) and Nomcebo Zikode (the featured artist) agreed on sharing 50/50 of Master KG’s earnings. The featured artists’ agreement, which reflected an equal split between the two artists, was drafted last year November for both parties to sign”.
Master KG also claimed that the vocalist received 1.5 million South African Rand for ‘Jerusalema’ while he hasn’t been paid for his contribution to her song, ‘Xola Moya Wami’.
Nombeco Takes Europe
Amidst all the brouhaha surrounding the royalties of ‘Jerusalema’, Nomcebo has been living it up in Europe as she has been sharing some of her tour highlights on her Instagram page. The vocalist traveled to Spain, Switzerland and is now headed to the United States.
The singer who is currently on tour shared that she sold out a concert in Martigny, Switzerland, and mentioned she was delighted to see all her fans.
