The Tepa- Danyame polling station chairman of the NPP in the Ahafo Ano North district of the Ashanti Region, Kwaku Seidu, has been arrested for the murder of his wife over a land issue.
It was reported that the accused shot his wife to death over a piece of land in an attempt to sell the land in question because he needed money to pay his debts and provide money for the upkeep of his family.
The accused had two wives who were against his decision to sell the land, so they decided to report the issue to the Zongo Chief, Nana Mazua and during the resolution of the issue at the palace of the chief, Kwaku Saidu pulled out a short gun in the presence of the chief and other family members and shot one of his wives.
The body of the deceased wife and mother of three, who was known as Sister Adjoa has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation.
The incident was confirmed by Fredrick Nyamakeye, an Assembly member for the Danyame electoral area, who stated that the quick interference by the command of the Tepa police prevented Seidu from being further attacked and killed by the furious occupants of the community.
However, the accused suffered severe beatings and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Tepa government hospital under strict police surveillance.
