Nigerian artist and entertainer, Davido.

Award-winning singer, Davido has decided to donate the 200 million Naira given to him by his friends and fans plus a personal donation of 50 million Naira to orphanages in Nigeria

Following his 100 million Naira challenge that raked in 200 million Naira, the singer announced that he will donate his cash gift to orphanages, as he’s set to mark his birthday

In a statement released by Davido, he disclosed that the 250 million Naira is to be distributed to orphanages across the country. In view of this initiative, Davido set up a five-man committee to supervise the disbursement of the 250 million Naira donation.

In the statement, titled, ‘Donation of N250,000,000.00 to orphanages across Nigeria,’ the singer listed the five people who would make up the committee.

The statement partly read, “To oversee the distribution of funds to beneficiaries, I have established a five-person Disbursement Committee.

“Members of the committee include Mrs. Titi Adebayo as chairman of the committee, Professor Jonathan Nwosu as secretary to the committee, Professor Yahana Joel Asabe of the Northern Nigeria Seventh Day Adventist Union Conference, Pastor (Dr.) Oyalabu of SpringTime Development Foundation, and Professor Uloma Onuoha”.

According to the statement, the committee will compile a list of orphanages across Nigeria and they will determine the number of children and their needs at each orphanage, and then divide the funds accordingly.

The committee will also determine the portion of the money that will be donated to the Paroche foundation. That notwithstanding, to maintain transparency, the committee will make public the names of the beneficiary orphanages and how much each will receive.

According to the statement, “A list of all beneficiaries and their verified account details will be submitted to Wema Bank, who will then be instructed to credit each beneficiary’s account”.

Rolls royce, American-born Nigerian singer, and songwriter, David Adedeji Adeleke, better known as Davido, has said he is going to continue to deliver hit songs since his fight against people who envy him is not going to end anytime soon.

According to the music star, several people have called him saying ‘it’s your money, keep it. Don’t listen to what people are saying’.  He went on to note that he wouldn’t deny needing the money however, he thinks there are more people who need it more than him.

Appreciating his friends and fans who sent him donations, Davido said:

”The love that people have shown me is really unbelievable. I used to question myself like ‘is being a good person even worth it?’ because I remember many people were like ‘David you are too nice, you are too free, you are too accessible, you are too this, you are too that’, and it got to a point where I was even thinking to myself, is this thing affecting me? But these past few days have shown me something different. I really appreciate it. I appreciate the love and kindness”.
