The internet has been in an uproar over the release of a video showing, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George receiving prayers from the leader and founder of Perez Chapel, Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare surfaced online.
This is in realtion to the Honorable currently championing a bill against the advocacy and legalization of same-sex relationships in Ghana. Thus, the Bishop anointed the MP, an elder of the church, for the “task” ahead before the close of service.
“For this battle, You [God] will bring a new anointing upon him and great grace. We say no weapon fashioned against you shall prosper… protect him, protect his family”. Sam
Acknowledging the support of his spiritual leader, the MP in a Facebook post said:
“Thanks so much, Papa, Bishop Charles Agyinasare, for always standing with me through thick and thin. I believe the GOD who called you would never let us down. We shall succeed. We shall prevail”.

Suspend anti-LGBTQI+ bill– Humanist Association
Meanwhile, the Humanist Association of Ghana, a pressure group promoting the rights of the gay community in Ghana, has asked Parliament to suspend the anti-LGBTQI+ bill currently before the house.
The group noted the anti-LGBTQ+ which seeks to criminalize such a spectrum of sexuality will put the lives of persons believed to be gays and lesbians at risk.
The group explained that “already, there is violence meted out to persons who exhibit LGBTQI+ traits”. Therefore, the group insists that if the bill is passed, there will be no protection for the gay community in Ghana.
The Organizing Secretary of the association, Angela Adatsi, posited that the bill will not serve the interest of the minority gay community in the country.
“I wonder why Ghanaians do not want persons who are gay to exhibit their LGBTQI+ traits but are quick to travel to the United States of America (USA) for luxury and education”.
Angela Adatsi argued that “Ghanaians are quick to travel and live in the USA, the country where LGBTQI+ traits are openly exhibited and manifested”.
“Many Ghanaians, including pastors, send their children to the USA for education and other purposes but are quick to frown on LGBTQI+ prevalence in the country”.

Miss Adatsi further speaking claimed that the Ghanaian culture that frowns on LGBTQI+ was wrong. She even alleged that some cultures in Ghana, particularly in the Nzema area in the Western-North Region, accept gay marriages.

“Ghana has different ethnic groups with different cultures, it is not a one-size-fits-all situation when it comes to culture. As a group, we don’t believe our activities have a severe impact on the Ghanaian society”.
She also emphasized that the Ghana AIDS Commission’s (GAC) report that lesbian and gay activities are impacting the prevalence of AIDS cannot be trusted.
She negated the GAC report by noting that “the same report says all gay activities are done in secret in the country.
“So, how did the commission come by its report on the activities that are not done in the open. As members of the gay community, we encourage condom use”.
Meanwhile, several religious organizations have thrown their weight behind Parliament to pass the anti-LGBTQI bill.
The latest to join the call on Parliament to pass the bill into law are the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC), the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), and the Coalition of Muslim Organizations, Ghana (COMOG).
The groups were unanimous in their submissions that under no circumstance should the country entertain the activities of LGBTQI+.
