I used to be a rubbish collector at Dome – Fameye

Fameye has warmed hearts online following a donation he made to some disaster victims. This comes after Fameye promised to donate some items to the victims of the disaster

Ghanaian musician, Fameye

Ghanaian singer, Fameye has revealed that before fame embraced him, he used to be a garbageman, locally referred to as ‘borla man’.

Speaking in an interview, the ‘Praise’ hitmaker noted that he actually comes from a well-to-do family, but as an orphan, he always lacked in life until he started to do music.

Narrating his life story, Fameye said he used to collect rubbish from people’s homes as a means to cater for himself. He added that, at some points, he had to attach weeding to the rubbish-collecting work because he wanted to fend for himself and survive in life.

“I used to collect rubbish for people. Anyone in Musuku, Kwabenya will know I am not lying. Especially those living around Kwabenya East Police Post. I weed the whole community. I used to plant flowers around that place. Likewise, I used to sell sobolo to students, and I was weeding from house to house. I did all of those jobs just to survive because I didn’t have anyone to help me out”.

Fameye further speaking said: “I know what I have been through. I come from a rich home, and I am not supposed to suffer, yet it happened. Not only that, but I come from a house that they have nice girls and people travel in and out. Even Majid and Kubolor used to come to my house”.

Fameye has asked musical artists especially those who are into the highlife music genre to keep up with it since it can win them a Grammy award.

According to the Praise hitmaker, he has turned all the negative things people used to say about him into positives and has channeled all his ordeal into making music everyone can relate to.

“People used to insult me that I am an orphan, but I have always believed in myself. I see myself as an underground artiste even up till now, and I know I will make it,” Fameye said.

Fameye reveals why he doesn’t fancy TikTok music promotions

Fameye voiced out on debate that musicians can no longer promote their songs without the social media app, TikTok.

Speaking on the issue, Fameye noted that even though he has approached some influencers in the past to push his songs for him, he doesn’t tie his success to the app. He explained that TikTok is a creative app, but it is not the path to making songs a hit because songs were already blowing organically in the past.

Fameye averred that a good song transcends better than promotion on TikTok because songs on the social app are short-lived.

“I am on TikTok… I don’t hate it. Likewise, I promote my songs there too, but I don’t add TikTok to my plans because they do not listen to full songs on the platform. They only use it for their skits and short video dance”.

Fameye

Talking further, he said: My music will survive without TikTok.
