Barbara Naa Nyarko popularly known as OV, has recounted the strange circumstances revolving around her brother’s death, a situation which she is yet to recover from.

Giving a vivid account of what transpired on that faithful day, OV said she had finished cooking dinner, served her brother’s food, and went into his room to call him but found him in a strange state, adding that her brother was found rigid in bed and lifeless, just out of the blue.

She described the development as a trigger to her mental struggles.

She narrated:

“In the morning, I went into his room and called him to come and eat. When I entered his room, I saw him lying down lifeless and rigid. I was confused at first because I didn’t know what it was. I had not seen a dead body before. When I turned him and he felt hard and heavy, I asked myself what exactly this was.

“I went inside my room and asked myself a lot of questions. I went outside, fetched water, and poured it on him but nothing happened. He was really heavy. Then I went out to ask for help because it was just me at home. At that time we were residing at Adukrom. Our house was situated on the outskirts of town so it was really difficult to get help”.

However, OV said for years, she had not shed a single tear until the period when her career crashed and she became less busy.

She further added that all she could do to hide her pain included keeping herself busy with music, shows, and so on.

She explained:

“I didn’t properly mourn him. I tried to cover my grief with music but I went through a lot of trauma when everything hit me really hard. When I became less busy, my career slowed down. To date, it still traumatizes me.

“Medications have helped. And I moved away from my family a bit because they made me remember the death of my brother. But it was the same family who pulled me close when everybody else left me”.

Former Burniton Music signee, OV Styles made a sad revelation concerning her love life.

According to her, she would have been married by now if her fiance hadn’t ditched her at the last minute to travel abroad.

OV disclosed:

“I was getting ready to walk down the aisle. I was in my wedding gown, my makeup and hair were done and my family was waiting. I suddenly received a text from him telling me that he couldn’t marry me anymore and was traveling abroad. I was hurt and disappointed but I’ve moved on since then”.

OV further revealed how she kept all the things she was going to use for the wedding for sentimental reasons.

According to her, she took everything normal.

OV recorded her first single, ‘Nea Woyeyi’, with Reynolds the Gentleman, after he discovered her on Instagram.

She is also known for her songs ‘Ma Mind Dey’, ‘Kambu’, ‘Akoto’, and ‘Want Me’ in collaboration with Stonebwoy.

Considered the best music talent in Ghana in 2018 during that year’s MTN Hitmaker, OV has gained varied nominations in numerous award schemes including the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to fully concretize the kind of generational talent that she is.

She went on to sign a record deal with Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music but things didn’t go pretty well because her contract was canceled.

She started off as a dancer although was singing and wanted to play the guitar from childhood, and became known by schoolmates and the public as “skelebarbs ” because of her ability to dance.

She then won several certificates for being the best dancer in her formal senior high school. Upon completing her senior high school education, she went ahead to start her musical career.
