NDC’s National Communications Officer Urges Journalists To Support Party’s Bid For Change

Sammy Gyamfi Esq.

The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Sammy Gyamfi Esq. has urged journalists in the country to offer the necessary assistance towards the party’s bid to win the 2024 general elections.

Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi speaking to journalists in the Western Region, lamented over the country’s current development trajectory and further asserted that the country had been heading in the wrong direction for over seven years under the New Patriotic Party administration led by President Akufo-Addo.

According to Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, the country is grappling with a myriad of challenges, including a pervasive sense of hopelessness, widespread corruption, nepotism, the arrogance of power, and an alarming level of insensitivity from the government.

He warned that if the current state of affairs persists, the country’s problems will continue to worsen, which would go a long to affect the next generation.

“There are many people who are suffering, who wake up today hopeless, not knowing where the next meal will come from. There is no hope, and disillusionment is at an all-time high. And so, if we sit down for the current climate to continue for four years more, I dare say that we may not have a country called Ghana by 2028.

“So we need you. We need your esteemed platforms. For those who write, we need your pens, for the cameramen, we need your cameras, for producers here, we need your skills for us to tell the story of the Ghanaian”.

Sammy Gyamfi Esq.

The National Democratic Congress National Communications Officer commenting on the need for the media and journalists to support the party’s bid for change in the December 7 polls underscored the importance of collaboration among all Ghanaians to change the development trajectory of the country and to avert the suffering of many Ghanaians.

Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi particularly underscored the need for the party to collaborate with the media to address the destruction of water bodies, forest reserves, and farmlands in the Western Region due to the activities of illegal mining.

Furthermore, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi alleged that the destruction of the various farmlands, forest reserves, and water bodies within the region through the activities of illegal mining is done not by ordinary citizens or small-scale miners but by officials and affiliates of the ruling New Patriotic Party administration.

Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi bemoaned the negative impacts of the destruction of the country’s environment, particularly water bodies, farmlands, and forest reserves, and stated that if appropriate measures are not taken by the country to curb the situation, human existence would be threatened.

Moreover, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi expressed the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to work with all key institutions in the country, especially the media in realizing its vision to build a better and prosperous Ghana for all citizens.

He spoke of the party flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama’s proposal to establish a governance advisory council, which will include media representation, and the establishment of a media development fund to support career development within the media industry.

“So if you join this struggle, you are not joining a political party, you are supporting a cause for change in the leadership, management, and governance of this country, so your children and their children’s children can have a future”.

Lawyer Gyamfi Esq.

The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress concluded his statement by emphasizing the party’s readiness to work with the media when elected in the December 7 polls, stressing the importance of a vibrant and independent media sector in shaping the country’s future.
