An Extraordinary Constituency Delegates Conference has been authorized by the National Council of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

On Friday, September 8, 2023, at all Regional Party offices, this conference will include the vetting of candidates for the Parliamentary Candidates.

The Extraordinary Constituency Delegates Conference at the Constituency level is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Suaman, Anlo, North Dayi, Nadowli/Kaleo, Sagnarigu, Kumbungu, Builsa North, Pusiga, Ada, Bolgatanga East, Tema East, La Dadekotopon, Buem, Biakoye, Amenfi West, New Edubiase, and Upper Manya Krobo are just a few of the constituencies that will be included in this process.

The Party has directed all Regional Executive Committees to take the necessary steps to enable the orderly conduct of the Delegates’ Conference and the seamless vetting of candidates in the aforementioned constituencies, according to a statement released by the Party and endorsed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua.

NPP Postpones Flagbearer Candidate Balloting

Meanwhile, the scheduled balloting for the flagbearer candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which was scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, 2023, has been postponed.

The party may not have been able to conduct the balloting due to unknown reasons, but the elections committee told the media that after meeting with the candidates, there were still some concerns that needed to be rectified.

The elections committee also hinted that the November 4 elections’ modalities, candidates, and electoral commission will soon be revealed.

The elections committee’s spokesperson and member of parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, told the media that the date for the balloting will be decided when the procedures have been worked out.

On July 11, 2023, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) began accepting nominations for parliamentary primaries in “orphan constituencies,” or areas where the party has no representation in the legislature.

The decision was accepted at the NPP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council meetings held on April 3, 2023, according to a statement released by the party’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.

The election dates are Saturday, September 23, 2023, to Saturday, December 2, 2023.
