GCB Bank appoints new Deputy MD

The Board of Directors of GCB Bank Limited has announced the appointment of Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey as Deputy Managing Director and a member of the Board with immediate effect.

Mr. Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey takes over from Mr Samuel Amankwah who retired from the Bank last year, having spearheaded the affairs of the bank for after 20 years serving in Executive Management and Senior Management positions.

As a seasoned Banker, having worked with banks such as the Standard Chartered Bank and Ecobank, Mr. Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey brings on board over 20 years of multinational experience working for listed companies in corporate and retail Banking, asset management, securities, brokerage services, pensions, insurance and micro-finance with operations in over 30 African countries.

Mr. Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey initially started his career with KPMG, a renowned international firm and has since held other positions including Chief Financial Officer – WAMZ at EcobankGhana; Group Head, Finance at Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (Togo), Group Chief Operating Officer, Letshego Holdings Limited (Botswana) and Executive Business Manager to the Group CEO – Alexander Forbes Group Holdings (South Africa). Emmanuel also held several roles with Standard Bank of South Africa Group in South Africa and Ghana.

This gives him deep understanding of the financial sector and a vast experience in various fields of banking, including International, Corporate, and Institutional Banking, Transaction Banking, Development Finance. 

Mr Lamptey is an inspiring leader who holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Cape Coast, Ghana and is a fellow of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United Kingdom.

Mr. Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey was sworn into office by Justice Sophia Bernasko Essah, a Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ghana in the presence of Jude Arthur, the Chairman of the Board as well as other members of the GCB Bank Board as the Deputy Managing Director in charge of Operations and an Executive Director of the Bank.

GCB Bank Limited is known for its credibility in banking, business, and social responsibility works and activities over the years. The Bank seeks to be the leading bank in all markets and to provide first class banking solution for customers and value for stakeholders.

Upon his swearing into office, Mr. Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey acknowledged the board for appointing him as the next Deputy Managing Director for operations.

With his knowledge and experience Mr. Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey commits to advancing the Bank’s focus on delighting its clients, contributing to national development, and giving back to society. He also looks forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to deliver GCB Banks’ commitment to being ‘your bank for life’.

The Board believes Mr. Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey is the right candidate to carry the mantle of Mr. Samuel Amankwah to the next level. The Board also took the opportunity to congratulate Emmanuel on his appointment and expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their continued support for GCB Bank.

This new appointment follows after GCB Bank Limited appointed Mr. John Kofi Adomakoh, also a seasoned banker, as the Managing Director of the Bank effective 9th November 2020.
