The Fisherman’s Diary by Kang Quintus starring Ramsey Nouah opens on Netflix Tomorrow

award-winning Director, Kang Quintus, is set to open on Netflix, on Sunday, 4th of April. The film is the first-ever Cameroonian movie to be on the worldwide

‘The Fisherman’s Diary’, a Cameroonian movie production from award-winning;Director, Kang Quintus, is set to open on Netflix, on Sunday, 4th of April.

The film is the first-ever Cameroonian movie to be on the worldwide movie streaming app.

 That notwithstanding, the movie producer, Kang Quintus is also organizing;a watch party for 20 people when the movie opens on Netflix tomorrow. He made this announcement on his Instagram page where he also reached out to fans for their support.

“I am organizing ‘The Fisherman’s Diary’ private Netflix watch party for just 20 people. Tomorrow Sunday, April 4 @ 11 am… also reach out if you proud of the success of this film and you want to support”.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Veteran actor, Ramsey Noah who stars;in the movie also shared on his Instagram page the release date of the movie on Netflix whiles noting some awards the movie has won.

Most fans and social media users who sighted Ramsey’s post reacted to it. Several people mentioned that they are definitely going to watch the movie as others said they can’t wait any longer for it to open. Some replies to his post read:

The movie follows the story of a 12-year-old Ekah (Faith Fidel) who gets inspired by the youngest noble prize winner, Malala Yousalzai. In the film, Ekah is determined to go to school in a fishermen’s village where it is considered taboo.

It is worth noting that the film had 9 Nominations at the 2020 Africa Movie Academy Awards in categories including; Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Cinematographer.

The’ Fisherman’s Diary’ by Kang Quintus and Enah Johnscott, which has been one of Cameroon’s;best movies of 2020, was early this year pre-selected for the 93rd Oscars. However, the film did not make the final cut.  Speaking about the Oscars pre-selection, the Executive Producer of the Film, Kang Quintus, in;a recent interview, excitedly explained that the opportunity to make; it to the Oscars was enough recognition to put the Cameroonian film industry on the global map. 

“We are happy to have made history with this film. For us, aside from being a good reward for hard work, this deal grants; the opportunity for our content to reach a global audience. Hopefully, this would be the first amongst many, not just for me and the team, but for other Cameroonian filmmakers”.

Commenting about the debut of his movie on Netflix, which is the latest achievement; for the Cameroonian movie, the film’s Executive Producer, Kang Quintus,; who couldn’t hold back the excitement noted that this was a big win for Cameroonians most especially, the movie industry.

“After making it to the Oscars list, The Fisherman’s Diary has now become the 1st Cameroonian Film to be acquired by Netflix. This is big news for the Cameroon Film Industry and a proud moment for all Cameroonians… Many more Cameroon Films to follow”. More so, my good.
