Actress Praiz Sam has written an open letter to Nollywood movie writers requesting that they stop portraying Igbo men as ritualists and rather glorify their hard works in their movies.

Praiz Sam, Nigerian actress.

Actress Praiz Sam has written an open letter to Nollywood movie writers requesting that they stop portraying Igbo men as ritualists and rather glorify their hard works in their movies.

This comes on the back of several Nigerians accusing Obi Cubana and his associate of friends of being ritualists due to the plush and lavish burial of his mother over the weekend. According to Praiz Sam, the cause of the negativity is because of how movie writers have portrayed Igbo men as ritualists over the years in their movies.

Praiz Sam is of the view that people are beginning to see it as a norm, however, she defended Igbo men as she noted that they are the most hardworking men in Nigeria and lamented on how that side isn’t portrayed in their movies instead.

Praiz Sam referring to some of the comments made about Obi Cubana and his friends said “they were mostly negative as if an Igbo man cannot make clean money again and Nollywood has a part to play in that”.

“A Letter to MY NOLLYWOOD!! Dear Nollywood, how are you? Hope you’re doing great? A quick one!! Please, can we glorify the hardworking part of Igbo men, in our movies?? Instead of ‘RITUALS’ all the time! I mean, people are beginning to see it as a norm and if you really want to look into it yeah, Igbo men in Nigeria are the most hardworking men! Yes, I said what I said!! With my Full chest!! “Even the ladies.

“Let me take you back to the comments about (the #Oba celebration of life). The comment section was filled with a lot of Negativity!! Wow! So, an Igbo man can’t make clean money again?? I don’t understand it. I have stayed in the midst of them (they talk about business, 80percent of all the time, always very calculative) … I mean, we (Nollywood) are ministers too!! We preach through our movies and subconsciously get into the minds of people!!!

“So, I beckon on our writers to please showcase more of ‘real, clean, growth stories’ not just for the IGBO MEN! But especially for them, because we kind of gave them this look, through our movies!!”

Praiz Sam then hilariously added that she’s not dating any Igbo man before people drag her for that but then she thinks their hard work deserves clarity and it’s the duty of Nollywood to let people know that side of Igbo men.

“Ps: I’m not dating any Igbo man oh! Just saying the Bitter truth: “THEY WORK VERY HARD, and that part of them DESERVES CLARITY.” Thanks & God bless us all.  I am Praise Sam Ogan, (Yours faithfully)”

Speaking of Nigerians tagging Igbo men as ritualists, Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has been backlashing some Nigerians for asking him the way to being money ritualists.

Yul in a post on his Instagram page said he only acts in ‘money ritual’ scenes in movies but is not one.

Yul, who lamented that Nigerians are begging him to show them the ritual method said, “Come on now guys, come on. It’s only filmed and I act.

“Just like American action films where one man will defeat a whole city of bad guys. It’s just a storyline it doesn’t happen in my real life. Is it now a crime to be a good actor? Shouldn’t I eat?”.
