Kelvyn Boy, has been granted GH¢200,000 bail by the Adentan Circuit Court after he was remanded in police custody for allegedly assaulting a lady said to be his ‘Baby Mama’.

Ghanaian artist, Kelvyn Boy

Singer, Kelvyn Boy, has been granted GH¢200,000 bail by the Adentan Circuit Court today, February 23, 2022.

This came after Kelvyn Boy was remanded in police custody for allegedly assaulting a lady said to be his ‘Baby Mama’.

The artiste was accused of stamping on Deborah Kponyi’s ribs and hitting her back and right hand with an iron rod several times. He pleaded not guilty after being remanded.

However, sources reveal that Kelvyn Boy’s lawyers put in a bail application on his behalf, leading to the hearing of the case at the Adentan Circuit Court.

Eventually, the court presided over by Sedinam Awo Balokah, granted the ‘Down Flat’ hitmaker bail to the tune of GH¢200,000 with two sureties. The case has now been adjourned to Friday, March 18, 2022.

Meanwhile, many have been left surprised as Kelvyn Boy shared a post on his Instagram indicating that he is in Nigeria some few hours after he was granted bail. Posting a picture of himself in an apartment, Kelyvn Boy wrote: “Lagos, I’m in your city…what’s good? #Downflat”.

Several people are wondering what Kelyvn Boy is doing in Nigeria while he is embattled with a police case. Well, there could be a simple explanation to this. It seems Kelvyn Boy is in Nigeria to promote his new song, ‘Down Flat’.

Kelvyn boy has asked his fans not to hate another artiste just because he's their favorite. This follows so many instances where a particular
Ghanaian Afro-Beatz singer, Kelvynboy.

In a recent interview, Kelvyn Boy disclosed that his latest song, ‘Down Flat’, is drawing a lot of attention from Afrobeat giants in Nigeria.

“I am getting a lot of feedback from Nigeria. We only need to tighten a few loose screws and work together. We have to admit that we need to learn from them”.

Kelvyn Boy

Kelvyn Boy, speaking about competition between Ghanaian and Nigerian artists, urged Ghanaian musicians to tap into Nigerian sounds rather than compete with them. He opined that Nigerian music should be welcomed even if Nigerians don’t do so.

According to the ‘Toffee’ singer, Ghanaian music has already chalked success, therefore, musicians must increase their efforts in making music produced in Ghana “one of Africa’s prides”.

Kelvyn boy also admonished Ghanaians to stop complaining because locally made songs are really making waves. The ‘Na You’ crooner noted that it was not the time to be complaining because, to him, Ghanaian songs are really doing well. He stressed this is something Ghanaians need to appreciate in the industry.

“I don’t believe in competing. This is not the right time to complain. We want to be number one, while we know that Nigerians currently hold that spot.

“We still make hit songs and this isn’t the right time to complain because every young artiste seems to be ‘blowing’. It is as if we don’t appreciate what we have. We don’t appreciate as a country and once that sets in, we don’t see efforts. We are making it so why are we complaining?”

Kelvyn Boy

Kelvyn Boy is a strong Afrobeat advocate who believes that Ghanaians need to admit that the Afrobeat genre will give Ghana the global recognition it deserves with regards to music. He however, admitted that there is still more work to be done on the sound output of some of the songs released onto the market and advised that artists should invest more time and money into their craft.
