Italian Ambassador, H. E Daniella D’Orlandi, has expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the 7th edition of the Italian Cuisine and Wine week celebration.

According to her, this year’s week has garnered the involvement of more businesses and exposure than it has with previous years.

Speaking in an interview with Vaultz News, H. E Daniella D’Orlandi, divulged that Italy has much more to offer than pizza and pasta, emphasizing that both Italy and Ghana have tomato as an important ingredient in their diet, so it serves as a bond between the two countries.

Additionally, she indicated that this year’s celebration differs from last year’s in term of participation.

“There’s much more interest from the participating businessmen because this year we have fourteen partners so it’s quite a number from the food sector and wine sector. Only from the wine sector, it’s ten participants and some of them are the most important Ghanaian importers of Italian wine and others came directly from Italy. So, it’s what we want to do as an embassy with our trade agency to promote more partnership between Italian and Ghanaian Companies that could be mutually beneficial.”

H. E D’Orlandi intimated that there is a share of market that is still unexplored that Ghanaians can benefit from. She hopes that next year’s event will be bigger “with more participants and many happy faces”.

On his part, the Italian Trade Commissioner, Alessandro Gerbino, opined that the occasion provides an opportunity to strengthen relationships and give patrons the opportunity to taste Italian wines available in Ghana.

Mr Gerbino expressed his sincere gratitude to the sponsors and promoters of Italian brands and cuisine in the country for their immense support over the years. He mentioned that five companies were partnering with them for the first time and encouraged people present to approach those stands so as to learn the history and taste their wines as well.

Commenting on his plans on how to incorporate Italian wines into the Ghanaian market, Mr. Gerbino noted that “some of the companies will spend few days in Ghana, so these days we are going to meet these companies.”
