President Zelensky visits Ukraine Troops in Avdiivka

The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky has paid a visit to the Ukrainian troop in a small eastern town of Avdiivka. He was briefed on the battleground situation, his office said.

The office of the President released a video, that shows President Zelensky addressing the troops in a combat gear. He also presented awards to them to express appreciation for their dedication to fighting for the sovereignty of Ukraine.

“I have the honor to be here today, to thank you for service, for defending our land, Ukraine, our families,” he said.

The video depicted a heavily damaged high-rise building in Avdiivka, where about 1800 civilians are still seeking shelter.

Meanwhile, a Russian artillery attack has killed one person and injured nine others in the city of Kherson in southern Ukraine. The Kherson regional administration released a video of the attack, showing a body on the ground and others being treated by paramedics.

“The terrorist state lunched an attack on peaceful Kherson residents. One person died, nine people from Kherson are injured. Our heroic doctors are fighting for their lives and health,” Oleksandr Prokudin, the Governor of Kherson claimed.

Moreover, the battle of Bakhmut is still ongoing, as Russia seeks to conquer more territories. Ukrainian officials have reported that Russia troops have increased heavy artillery activities and air strikes in Bakhmut.

Fighting have raged in the Donetsk region for months, with Ukrainian forces holding out despite regular claim by Russia, to have taken the mining city.

“Currently, the enemy is increasing the activity of heavy artillery and the number of air strikes, turning the city into ruins,” the Commander of the Ukraine ground forces, General Oleksandr Syrski said in a statement.

Poland Proposes New Sanction on Russia

In other developments, Poland has proposed a new set of sanctions on Russia, including a ban on an oil pipeline, and diamonds amid its ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

The proposal in question, was sent to the European Union Executive Commission. However, all 27 nations in the European Commission must agree unanimously, to impose the sanction.

This comes after the European Union has already announced 10 rounds of sanctions against Moscow, since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine invasion.

The Polish President, Andrzej Duda, has been criticizing the invasion of Ukraine, a nation Poland shares border with.

Poland is among the European nation that have supported Ukraine in its offensive against Russia. It has provided military aid to Ukraine, to the tune of $2.5 billion. It is one of the first countries that opened their borders to the fleeing Ukrainian refugees when the invasion begun.

G7 Slams Russia and Warns China

A group of Foreign Minister from seven industrial powers have criticized Russia’s effort to send its nuclear arsenals to Belarus. They promised to intensify the sanctions on Russia for invading its neighbor.

Also, the Ministers have issued caution to China and criticized its recent military drills on the Taiwan strait.

Beijing, which views Taiwan as its territory, says the island is obliged to rejoin the mainland, by force if necessary. Beijing rebutted the criticisms of the G7 Ministers, claiming their actions are gross interference in its internal affairs.
