Regional Governor, Serhiy Lisak has confirmed that three people were killed, as well as 25 injuries, in a Russian missile attack on Kryvyi Rih.

Ukrainian officials disclosed that the central city of Kryvyi Rih; Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s hometown, suffered a “massive” missile attack overnight and that air strikes hit several civilian buildings, including a five-storey apartment block.

The city’s mayor, Oleksandr Vilkul, cautioned earlier that people may still be trapped under the rubble.

Lisak, Governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region where Kryvyi Rih is located, shared a picture on Telegram showing the damage done by Russia’s overnight attack on the city.

“There are killed and wounded,” he wrote, urging people not to ignore air raid alerts as the situation was still “dangerous”. He added in the post that rescue operations were ongoing.

Zelenskyy noted on Telegram, “Russian killers continue their war against residential buildings, ordinary cities and people.” He offered condolences “to all those who have lost their loved ones”, adding that “terrorists will never be forgiven”.

The Ukrainian President iterated that the perpetrators will be “held accountable for every missile they launch.”

Kyiv Also Hit By Missiles

Meanwhile, military officials disclosed that Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, also came under missile and drone attack early on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, morning but air defense systems destroyed all objects heading towards the city.

“According to initial reports, the enemy used Kh-101/555 cruise missiles,” Kyiv city military administration announced.

“All enemy targets in the airspace around Kyiv were detected and successfully destroyed by the forces and means of air defense,” the administration said, adding there was no immediate information on any casualties or damage.

Ukraine’s top military command said air forces destroyed 10 out of 14 cruise missiles Russia launched against Ukraine on Tuesday and one of four Iranian-made drones.

It was not immediately clear how many missiles hit Kryvyi Rih and where the drones struck their targets.

Additionally, Mayor Ihor Terekhov announced that civilian infrastructure was hit by a drone in Kharkiv.

“According to initial reports, a utility company in the Kyivskyi district, as well as a warehouse in Saltivskyi district got damaged. A fire broke out as a result of the explosion on the latter,” he said.

The latest wave of air attacks comes as Kyiv claims that seven settlements have been liberated from Russian control in southern and eastern Ukraine, but Moscow has yet to confirm a retreat.
