Award-winning fashion designer and actor, Elikem Kumordzie has disclosed that the mental health of celebrities is at stake until they grow tough skin.

He being a subject of fake news many times, asserted that fake news about people is part of life, adding that no matter what one does, people will either agree or disagree with them.

He said:

“Every now and then, sometimes it is more exaggerated than fake. You only grow a tough skin in the industry we are in to understand that it comes with the perks of being famous or being known.

“Once you come to understand that empty barrels make the most noise, you would realize that whatever people are ‘chantimg about’ is just the people who probably have the spare time on their hands to do so”.

He further stated that one would not have the time to talk about people or spread fake news about someone if one is generously busy with the right news.

The award-winner asserted that all publicity is good publicity depending on how the individual uses it.

He said that once there is publicity about someone, all eyes are on the person and all the individual needs to do is to make something good out of it.

He disclosed:

“If you can channel that attention or people wanting to hear from you and put that into your work, put the pain into purpose and work with it, you would realize that people will start to notice you…”.

Also, Elikem Kumordzie revealed that he was the first Ghanaian to make it to the finals at Big Brother Africa even though nobody knew him.

He noted that he didn’t know how to use his fame at that time, adding that if it was currently, he would have found his way through with the fame.

Shedding lights on current happenings in life

Elikem Kumordzie shed some light on the current happenings in his life.

The actor who has recently been in the news for engaging in feuds with the likes of Sarkodie, Abrantie the Gentleman, KK Fosu, and others, shared the real story behind it and the aftermath.

Opening up about the backlash he faced after he criticized Sarkodie’s outfit earlier in February, the fashion designer pointed out that Sarkodie’s tailor did not do a good job and that he could have done better.

The comment resulted in a massive backlash on social media, leading to his apology.

Clarifying the issue, Elikem said that he was innocently pointing out some flaws and didn’t mean to offend or demean Sarkodie or his tailor.

He disclosed:

“I didn’t think it would be that crazy, but I knew people were going to come at me… I was able to point it out. Again, it’s the empty barrels that make the noise. I think DMing him would have been personal and straight to him.

“It was pointing out a fashion flaw in general. In general, the mediocrity in the fashion space in Ghana is a lot. Why are you going to put out or why would you create something and have such a flaw and put it out on someone like that, so to speak? It wasn’t a personal attack”.

Revealing that he knows Shatta Wale on a personal level, he indicated that Shatta Wale is normally a jovial and fun individual, so the outbursts displayed by the artist could be due to him being genuinely angry or could be for showbiz.

Elikem who touts himself as one of Ghana’s finest fashion designers disclosed how he has been actively working to retain that title for years with consistency and quality.

He shared the current state of his relationship with his ex-wife, Pokello, that they are faring well with their co-parenting.

Elikem who travels often to see his son, Tristan in Zimbabwe, opened up on his mother’s significant role in his life in spite of their divorce.

He also spoke about his new partner, Hajara.
