Russia Vows To Respond To Ukraine Drone Attacks

Kremlin Spokesman, Dmitry Peskov.

Kremlin Spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov has told reporters that he had no information on whether Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to congratulate Donald Trump.

Peskov reaffirmed the Kremlin’s claim that the U.S. support for Ukraine amounted to its involvement in the conflict.

“Let’s not forget that we are talking about the unfriendly country that is both directly and indirectly involved in a war against our state.”

Dmitry Peskov

When asked if Trump might be offended by Putin’s lack of congratulations, the Kremlin spokesman remarked that it’s practically impossible for relations to worsen any further, adding, “Relations are currently at their lowest historical point.”

Also, Peskov asserted that it will be up to the new U.S. leadership to change the situation.

He noted Putin’s statements about Moscow’s readiness for a “constructive dialogue based on justice, equality and readiness to take mutual concerns into account.”

Additionally, Peskov said that Russia is carefully monitoring information on the US election and is unlikely to give an official assessment until it sees “concrete words and actions.”

“There is still some waiting to do, considering that the current US President will remain in office for almost another month and a half.”

Dmitry Peskov

Peskov highlighted “significant statements” from Trump, including what the Kremlin referred to as “his desire to end the ongoing policies of extending old wars and starting new ones.”

Referring to Trump’s victory, Peskov said that whether the United States is in favour of ending the war in Ukraine would only become clear after the inauguration in January.

“As he prepares to enter, or when has already entered the Oval Office, we recognize that sometimes statements take on a different tone. Therefore, we are carefully analyzing everything, observing, and will draw conclusions based on specific words and actions.

“We have repeatedly said that the US is in a position to help bring an end to the conflict. Of course, this cannot be achieved overnight.”

Dmitry Peskov

Moreover, Peskov noted that as for the allegations of attempted influence or interference, “we categorically reject them.”

This was in response to allegations that there was a Russian link to bomb threats in some US polling stations.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry also said that it has “no illusions” about a second Trump administration, but it would work with him and seek to achieve its “goals” in Ukraine when he takes office.

In a statement, the ministry said that its conditions for ending the war in Ukraine “are unchanged and are well-known in Washington.”

US Election Result Deemed Defeat Of Liberal And Progressivist Ideas

Meanwhile, Slovakia’s Prime Minister, Robert Fico said at a news conference, “We respect the choice of American people.”

Fico, who is known for pro-Russian views, said the result of the election is “certainly a defeat of liberal and progressivist ideas because the new American President is a conservative. We think he’ll focus on the economy issues in the United States.”

Fico noted that what’s of importance is that “everybody is waiting for the first steps in regards of the war in Ukraine.”

Fico added that Trump might reduce or halt the military aid for Ukraine or propose an immediate cease-fire to open the way for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

Fico ended his state’s military aid for Ukraine.

Another Putin ally, Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban congratulated Trump on his victory in the US presidential election, saying that this outcome will benefit the world. “The biggest comeback in US political history! Congratulations to President Donald Trump on his enormous win. A much needed victory for the World!” he wrote on X.

Orban openly supported Trump in the US bipartisan struggle and made no secret that he was counting on his return to the White House.
