Dr Kwaku Oteng, a renowned Ghanaian businessman, has left many inspired after he shared his grass-to-grace story.

In a video on TikTok, the founder of Angel Group of Companies who was speaking in an interview said his journey to success was not all smooth sailing.

He said even before he began producing his Angel Cream products in 1995 he was professionally a carpenter.

Dr Kwaku Oteng also refuted the assertion that he was a billionaire.

“I am not yet a billionaire but God has been good to me. I began in the 90s selling Angel Cream. But before that, I was a carpenter, I did furniture, beds, wardrobes, and other items.”

He expressed delight that his Angel Cream products although started on a smaller scale became a success.

“There is no house in Kumasi that I have not visited to sell my products. I had my products with me moving from market to market. At times dogs scared me away when I entered people’s homes.

“I sold the Angel Cream and God bless me through that. I was doing a day-night production. I started the Angel Cream business with my wife and one other person.”

Social media users who reacted to the video praised Dr Kwaku Oteng for using his lived experience to inspire the youth.

The renowned Ghanaian businessman stoked reactions after saying that he does not see himself as a wealthy man.

The President and Founder of Angel Group of Companies said he was unable to sleep if there was too much money in his possession.

In a video on X, Dr Kwaku Oteng attributed his success to divine favor and grace rather than accumulating vast physical wealth.

He also stated that he had never considered himself a wealthy person.

“There was a time it was reported that Dangote said he went to withdraw $1 million and slept by it overnight and that was when he knew he was wealthy. As for me, if for instance someone pays GH¢1 million and I keep it in my room I am unable to sleep.”

Dr Kwaku Oteng

To buttress his argument, Dr Oteng further stated that he felt afraid of having such large amounts in his possession.

“Thieves have attacked me before. So, I do not think I am rich. As for me, I feel it is God’s grace and mercy. So, I do not have money.”

Netizens commended Dr Kwaku Oteng’s humility.

@nAnAkwame002

“True wealth isn’t just about money it’s about freedom, time, and the ability to live life on your terms. Chase abundance, not just dollars.”
