The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has assured the public that there are adequate fuel stocks in Ghana, urging consumers not to panic despite growing concerns about global energy market developments.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the petroleum regulator said the country’s fuel supply situation remains stable and well managed.
The assurance comes amid heightened speculation about the potential impact of global geopolitical tensions and market volatility on Ghana’s petroleum supply and pricing.
According to the authority, it has carefully reviewed national stock levels and supply arrangements in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition and other key players within the petroleum industry.
“The National Petroleum Authority has taken note of recent reports, speculation, and public commentary regarding the potential impact of developments in the global energy market on fuel supply and pricing in Ghana.”

However, the regulator stressed that current supply levels are sufficient to meet the country’s demand.
Sufficient Fuel Supplies Confirmed

Following its internal assessment, the NPA confirmed that Ghana currently holds adequate quantities of major petroleum products needed to sustain economic activities.
The authority indicated that supplies of petrol, diesel, aviation fuel, and cooking gas are all available in the country in volumes capable of meeting both present and anticipated demand.
“Following a comprehensive review of national petroleum stock levels and supply arrangements… the NPA can confirm that sufficient quantities of Petrol (PMS), Diesel (AGO), Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are available in the country.”

These products form the backbone of Ghana’s energy consumption, powering transportation, aviation, industrial operations, and household energy use.
By confirming the availability of these fuels, the NPA aims to reassure businesses, transport operators, and households that there will be no immediate disruptions to supply.
Authorities say maintaining stability in the petroleum market remains a priority, particularly as global oil markets experience increasing volatility.
To ensure uninterrupted supply, the government has intensified monitoring and coordination within the petroleum supply chain.
The NPA noted that it continues to work closely with international trading partners and domestic industry operators to maintain consistent product flows into the country.
Government agencies are also maintaining close communication with international suppliers and local industry players to ensure that fuel imports arrive on schedule.
These collaborative efforts involve coordination with several organisations, including BOST Energies, international oil trading companies, and bulk fuel distributors.
Through these partnerships, authorities aim to guarantee that fuel imports are managed efficiently and that supplies are distributed smoothly across the country.
Strategic Measures to Protect Market Stability

In addition to monitoring supply levels, the petroleum regulator said it is implementing broader strategies to safeguard the stability of the fuel market.
These strategies focus on ensuring that supply disruptions are quickly addressed and that price volatility is closely monitored.
“The Authority is also strengthening strategic supply planning and price monitoring mechanisms to mitigate any potential supply disruptions or price volatility arising from developments in the global petroleum market.”

Such measures are considered essential as global oil markets continue to react to geopolitical developments and changes in production levels.
For Ghana, which relies heavily on imported refined petroleum products, maintaining a strong monitoring framework is crucial to preventing supply interruptions.
Despite ongoing global market uncertainties, the NPA has appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid panic buying.
The regulator stressed that there is currently no justification for excessive purchasing or hoarding of petroleum products.
“The NPA therefore wishes to reassure the public that there is no cause for alarm or panic buying, as the petroleum supply chain continues to function normally.”

Panic buying, industry experts warn, can create artificial shortages in the market and disrupt normal distribution systems even when supply levels are sufficient.
By encouraging consumers to maintain normal purchasing patterns, the regulator hopes to preserve stability within the fuel market.
Commitment to Consumer Protection

The NPA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring transparency and protecting the interests of fuel consumers across the country.
As the agency responsible for regulating Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector, the authority plays a central role in overseeing pricing structures, monitoring supply flows, and ensuring fair market practices.
Officials say the authority will continue to track developments in global energy markets and assess how they may affect domestic supply and pricing conditions.
“The Authority remains committed to ensuring reliable fuel supply, transparent market operations, and the protection of consumer interests.”

The NPA also pledged to keep the public informed about any significant changes that may arise within the petroleum sector.
The regulator’s assurance comes at a time when global energy markets remain highly sensitive to geopolitical tensions and supply disruptions.
Such developments often trigger concerns among consumers about potential fuel shortages or price spikes.
By confirming that adequate fuel stocks remain available in Ghana, the NPA hopes to reinforce public confidence in the country’s petroleum supply system.
Authorities believe that sustained monitoring, strategic planning, and collaboration with industry partners will help ensure that Ghana continues to maintain a stable and reliable fuel supply despite uncertainties in the global energy landscape.
