First National Bank Ghana has announced the appointment of Sylvia Inkoom as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 July 2026.
Her elevation marks a significant leadership transition for the bank as it continues to strengthen its presence in Ghana’s competitive financial services industry. The appointment remains subject to regulatory approval from the Bank of Ghana.
Sylvia Inkoom succeeds Warren Adams, who has led the bank since 2022 and will now assume a new role within the broader FirstRand Group. Her appointment reflects the bank’s strategic direction of deepening financial access and delivering intuitive, client-centred banking services across the country.
Extensive Experience Across Banking Segments
Sylvia Inkoom brings over two decades of experience in banking to her new role. With 21 years of professional expertise, she has built a strong track record across relationship management, treasury, global markets, finance, and structured deals.
Prior to her appointment, she served as Executive Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at First National Bank Ghana. In that capacity, she played a pivotal role in strengthening client relationships and expanding the bank’s corporate and investment banking portfolio.
Her earlier career also includes a senior leadership role as Deputy Managing Director at UBA Ghana, where she gained both local and international exposure in banking and finance. This diverse experience positions her to lead the bank into its next phase of growth and innovation.

Board Expresses Confidence in New CEO
The Board of Directors of First National Bank Ghana has expressed strong confidence in Sylvia Inkoom’s ability to steer the institution forward. Speaking on behalf of the board, Chairman Emmanuel Idun highlighted her deep industry knowledge and leadership capabilities.

Focus on Digital Banking and Customer Value
Sylvia Inkoom’s appointment aligns with First National Bank Ghana’s ambition to deliver unmatched digital banking solutions and create value for its customers. The bank has increasingly focused on leveraging technology to improve customer experience and broaden access to financial services.
Her background in structured deals and corporate banking is expected to complement the bank’s digital strategy by bridging traditional banking strengths with modern financial solutions. This approach is critical in a rapidly evolving financial landscape where customer expectations continue to shift.
The leadership change is therefore not only a transition but also a strategic move aimed at positioning the bank for sustained growth.
