The Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi and the Chairman for the Policy Committee of the NPP, Honourable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has explained that the party is preparing a detailed policy roadmap aimed at shaping its direction while in opposition. The Chairman disclosed that the newly inaugurated Policy Coordination Committee has already begun engagements to organise sector policy teams for the task ahead.
In his view, the committee’s mandate centres on developing practical alternatives that respond directly to the aspirations of Ghanaians. The MP for Ofoase Ayirebi indicated that the party leadership wants policy preparation to begin early so that the opposition can present clear programmes long before the next election cycle.

“The task that the flagbearer has given to us is that as part of the reforms, he wants us to spend our time in opposition preparing with clarity on the policies and the programs that can respond best to the aspirations of the Ghanaian people. And when we have done that preparation, that costing, that road-mapping, to bring it to the Ghanaian people either through Parliament, through the minority caucus, or on the party’s platforms.”

The Chairman suggested that the NPP wants to move away from opposition politics centered mainly on allegations and unverified claims. He argued that the party intends to present proposals that can withstand public scrutiny and practical implementation.
The MP for Ofoase Ayirebi further disclosed that the reform process has been endorsed by the party’s National Council. Honourable Nkrumah stressed that the structure would create a continuous policy process instead of relying only on manifesto season campaigns.
NPP Builds Strong Policy Team With Experts Across Key Sectors
The Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi and the Chairman for the Policy Committee of the NPP, Honourable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah clarified concerns surrounding the composition of the party’s policy committees.
The Chairman explained that only the leadership of the sector policy committees have been publicly announced while the wider membership remained undisclosed.

Meanwhile, the MP for Ofoase Ayirebi revealed that the committees include Members of Parliament, former government appointees, academics and professionals from different sectors. Honourable Nkrumah added that some standing committees also have constitutionally determined memberships within the party structure.
The Politician further noted that the sector policy committees adopted a separate arrangement that focused first on leadership appointments. He explained that the complete list of committee members would not be publicly released even though the committees have already been constituted internally.

The MP for Ofoase Ayirebi explained that diaspora representatives are contributing international experience and professional perspectives from global institutions and private organisations.
Additionally, Honourable Nkrumah indicated that communication and social media teams are also playing important roles within the committees. The Politician noted that those groups are helping to gather public feedback while supporting policy communication efforts.
The Chairman added that the arrangement is expected to strengthen the quality of policy discussions within the party. He stressed that the committees were carefully structured to combine political experience with technical expertise from various professional backgrounds.
NPP Encouraged By Growing Youth Interest In Policy Development
The Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi and the Chairman for the Policy Committee of the NPP, Honourable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah described the public response to the party’s policy committees as encouraging and energising. The Chairman revealed that many young professionals have already expressed interest in contributing ideas and expertise to the committee process.

Furthermore, the MP for Ofoase Ayirebi disclosed that several individuals have started submitting research papers and policy proposals for consideration. Honourable Nkrumah explained that the growing enthusiasm demonstrates the willingness of professionals to contribute to national development conversations through the party’s new policy structure.

The Politician recounted how a young agronomy expert submitted a detailed proposal on improving food systems and reducing inefficiencies within the agricultural value chain. He explained that the proposal examined ways of addressing price disparities between farm gates and market centres.
In addition, the Chairman stated that the party intends to create an open policy environment capable of attracting strong ideas from different backgrounds.
Honourable Nkrumah also indicated that the policy process would not be limited only to party faithful. The Politician explained that the leadership wants the best national ideas to be considered regardless of political affiliation.
