Dreams FC and Nations FC will battle for domestic cup glory when they meet in the final of the 2025 MTN FA Cup at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon on Sunday, May 31.

The highly anticipated encounter will be played under floodlights, with kick-off scheduled for 6:00 pm as both clubs seek to end their campaigns on a memorable note.

For Nations FC, the final presents an opportunity to salvage what has been a disappointing season following their relegation from the Ghana Premier League. The Abrankese-based club will be hoping to lift their first major trophy and secure a positive ending before beginning life in the Division One League next season.

Dreams FC, meanwhile, are chasing a second MTN FA Cup title after winning the competition during the 2022/23 season. The Still Believe Boys have established themselves as one of the country’s emerging forces and will be aiming to add another piece of silverware to their collection.

Dreams FC’s rise has been highlighted by their impressive run in the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2023-24 season. Making their maiden appearance in African club football, the club exceeded expectations by reaching the semi-finals of the competition.

The Believers came up against Egyptian giants Zamalek in the last four and were eliminated 3-0 on aggregate. Despite earning a goalless draw in Egypt, Dreams were unable to capitalize on the result and suffered defeat on home soil, ending their remarkable continental journey.

Contrasting Seasons, Similar Ambitions

Dreams FC’s route to this year’s FA Cup final has been equally impressive. They overcame several difficult opponents, including Inter Allies, Heart of Lions and Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC, whom they defeated in the semi-finals to secure a place in the final.

Nations FC have also enjoyed a memorable cup campaign despite their league struggles subsequent drop to the second tier. The club eliminated Swedru All Blacks and Berekum Chelsea before overcoming Aduana FC in the semi-finals to book their first-ever appearance in an MTN FA Cup final.

The final therefore offers Nations an opportunity to make history by winning the competition for the first time while also securing a return to continental football despite their relegation from the top flight.

Head-to-Head Record Promises Tight Contest

Recent meetings between the two clubs suggest spectators can expect a closely contested encounter in Legon.

In six competitive meetings, Nations FC hold a slight advantage over Dreams FC. The Abrankese-based side have recorded three victories, while Dreams have won twice, with one match ending in a draw.

Although the head-to-head statistics favour Nations, current form appears to be on the side of Dreams FC heading into the final.

The “Still Believe” lads have won four of their last five matches, suffering just one defeat during that period. Their impressive run has boosted confidence within the squad as they seek to crown the season with another FA Cup triumph.

Nations FC, on the other hand, have endured mixed results in recent weeks. They have lost three of their last five matches while winning two, a record that reflects the challenges they faced during their ultimately unsuccessful battle against relegation.

Despite the contrasting form, cup finals often produce unpredictable outcomes, and both teams will believe they have what it takes to emerge victorious.

For Dreams FC, victory would further cement their reputation as one of Ghana’s fastest-rising clubs and secure a second FA Cup title in four seasons. For Nations FC, it would be a historic achievement and a fitting response to the disappointment of relegation.
