Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., has been honoured by the Paramount Chief of Buipe, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, in recognition of his outstanding leadership, selflessness, and significant contributions to Ghana’s economic transformation.
This prestigious tribute, held during a recent courtesy visit to the GoldBod headquarters, serves as a testament to the CEO’s commitment to advancing national prosperity through strategic mineral sector reforms.
“Receiving the honour, Sammy Gyamfi expressed profound gratitude to the Buipewura and reaffirmed his commitment to leading GoldBod with integrity, excellence, and a clear focus on delivering meaningful economic benefits for the people of Ghana.”

The recognition highlights the profound impact of the GoldBod under Gyamfi’s stewardship, particularly in his efforts to formalize the small-scale mining sector and bolster foreign exchange reserves.
During the ceremony, the revered traditional ruler presented the CEO with a traditional smock and a symbolic spear medal, which stands as one of the highest honours in Gonjaland, to commend his dedicated service to the nation.
A Visionary Approach to Economic Stability
The accolade serves as a reflection of the rapid institutional success GoldBod has achieved under Gyamfi’s leadership.
Since assuming the role, he has been instrumental in implementing the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Programme (GANRAP), which aims to stabilize the cedi and protect the economy from external shocks by increasing gold reserves.

Analysts have observed that the scale of reforms executed by the Board within its first year is unprecedented.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, recently praised the CEO’s drive, noting, “The kind of work Sammy Gyamfi has done at GoldBod in the last few months, it will take somebody five years to do.”
Bridging Tradition and National Growth
The engagement between the Buipewura and the GoldBod leadership also provided a platform for high-level discussions on regional investment.

Both parties explored untapped prospects in the Savannah Region, specifically focusing on how agriculture and industrialization can align with the national agenda.
The Buipewura underscored the necessity of value addition to Ghana’s mineral resources, describing it as a key driver for long-term growth.
Gyamfi welcomed the guidance of the traditional authorities, reaffirming that the board will continue to lead with “integrity, excellence, and a clear focus on delivering meaningful economic benefits for the people of Ghana.”
Setting the Standard for Public Service
The recent honour is the latest in a string of accolades for the CEO, who was also named the Overall Best CEO of the Year Public Sector at the 2026 Ghana CEO Summit.

Such recognition underscores the shift in how state-owned enterprises are being managed under the current administration.
By transitioning from traditional purchasing models to more efficient, cost-effective strategies, GoldBod has emerged as a cornerstone of Ghana’s economic architecture.
As Gyamfi continues to spearhead these reforms, stakeholders remain optimistic that this model of transparency and performance-driven leadership will set a new benchmark for other state institutions to emulate in the pursuit of national prosperity.
