The President stated that the hospitality extended to the Ghanaian delegation demonstrated the cordial relations that have existed between the two nations for decades. Furthermore, he noted that the visit provided an opportunity to deepen engagement and explore new areas of cooperation.

He recalled that Ghana and Belarus established diplomatic relations in 1992 and have continued to maintain friendly ties. Since then, both countries have pursued common aspirations centered on economic growth and national development.

In addition, he highlighted the importance of maintaining diplomatic dialogue and expanding institutional cooperation. Such efforts, he observed, would support the pursuit of economic prosperity and technological advancement.

New Agreements Open Fresh Chapter in Bilateral Cooperation
His Excellency, John Dramani Maham announced that Ghana and Belarus have reached several agreements aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and promoting development. He said the outcomes of discussions held with President Alexander Lukashenko would support growth across multiple sectors.
Addressing participants after bilateral engagements, the President revealed that the two countries signed a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding. He explained that the arrangements are designed to convert diplomatic goodwill into tangible benefits for citizens.
Among the agreements signed is the establishment of a Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation. Another arrangement focuses on collaboration between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both countries with particular attention to agriculture.
The President observed that the agreements would create stronger links between government institutions and private sector actors. Consequently, he said businesses would have greater opportunities to explore investment and commercial partnerships.

Agriculture featured prominently in the discussions between the two countries. His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama explained that Ghana seeks to modernise its agricultural sector through technology and innovation.
He noted that improving food production remains a national priority. At the same time, efforts are underway to reduce post harvest losses and improve efficiency across agricultural value chains.
The President pointed to Belarus’ experience in agricultural mechanisation and research as an area of significant interest to Ghana. He indicated that cooperation in technology transfer capacity building and investment could help accelerate agricultural transformation.
“We are keen to leverage Belarus’ advanced technologies to minimise post-harvest losses and improve efficiency across our agricultural value chain. In pursuing these goals, we see significant opportunities for partnership with Belarus, given its strong reputation in agricultural mechanisation, machinery manufacturing and agricultural research.”

Beyond agriculture, discussions also explored opportunities in manufacturing pharmaceuticals and infrastructure development. The President said Ghana offers favourable conditions for investors seeking long term partnerships.
He highlighted Ghana’s stable political environment strong legal framework and youthful workforce as major advantages. Additionally, he encouraged Belarusian businesses to view Ghana as a strategic gateway to the West African market.
