In a significant milestone for African culinary representation on the global stage, Ghanaian chef and content creator Abena Amoakaa Sintim-Aboagye, widely known as Chef Abbys, has been announced as a speaker at Social Fest 2026.

The two-day event, set for November 12-13 at the McAllen Convention Center in McAllen, Texas, brings together influential creators, entrepreneurs, and media personalities under the theme “The Year of the Creator.”

Chef Abbys shared her excitement on X (formerly Twitter), posting: “AMERICA, YOU ARE NEXT ,I’m incredibly honored to be joining the speaker lineup at Social Fest 2026 in Texas alongside some of the world’s most influential creators, including Keith Lee, Aaron Parnas, and many more. The announcement has generated strong engagement, with thousands of likes and supportive comments from fans across the African diaspora.

This invitation marks another leap in Chef Abbys’ remarkable rise from Accra’s home kitchens to international acclaim. Born Abena Amoakaa Sintim-Aboagye, she trained as an engineer before fully embracing her passion for food.

She describes herself as an “African Food Tourist” and has cooked traditional dishes from 23 out of Africa’s 54 countries, using her platforms to preserve and share culinary heritage.

With over 1.4 million followers on TikTok alone, Chef Abbys creates visually stunning videos that demystify complex African recipes while highlighting their cultural significance. Her content ranges from Ghanaian jollof rice to Burkina Faso’s babenda and Benin’s amiwo. “When you cook a country’s traditional food, you learn its values, its struggles, and its soul,” she told TIME magazine.

Every ingredient carries memory and respect for the people and heritage behind the dish.

Her achievements include selection as the only African creator for TikTok’s 2025 Discover List and recognition in TIME’s 100 Most Influential Creators of 2025. She has appeared at prestigious events like Cannes Lions and conducted food tours in the UK and beyond. Beyond content creation, Chef Abbys founded the Chefabbys School of Food (CASOF), which teaches, preserves, and promotes African culinary traditions for future generations.

Social Fest 2026, organized in the Rio Grande Valley, has grown into a major gathering for the social media economy. It attracts creators, business owners, marketers, and decision-makers eager to explore content strategies, influence, and monetization in the digital age.

Last year’s event drew significant attendance, and organizers aim to expand further with more speakers and programming focused on creator empowerment.

Also speaking is Aaron Parnas, a prominent social media journalist and attorney with millions of followers. Parnas has built a large audience by delivering concise, pointed news analysis, particularly appealing to younger viewers seeking alternatives to traditional media.

His sessions will likely cover the evolving landscape of independent journalism, creator-driven news, and the intersection of law, politics, and digital media.

For Chef Abbys, sharing the stage with such heavyweights represents more than personal success, it symbolizes broader recognition for African voices in global conversations about food, culture, and influence.

“African food on Global Stages” is not just a hashtag for her; it is a mission to challenge stereotypes and showcase the continent’s rich diversity through its kitchens.

Public Reactions

Industry observers note that food content has exploded on platforms like TikTok, where short-form videos allow creators to reach international audiences instantly. Chef Abbys stands out by combining recipe tutorials with deeper cultural education and personal storytelling.

Her engineering background informs a methodical approach to content precise measurements, clear instructions, and consistent quality that resonates with home cooks worldwide.

Supporters in Ghana and the diaspora have flooded her post with congratulations. Comments range from pride in national representation (“Make Ghana proud”) to excitement about potential collaborations and future opportunities.

One fan noted her journey “from teaching me how to cook delicious meals on TikTok to being a global brand.”

As Social Fest approaches, anticipation builds around what Chef Abbys will share. Attendees can expect insights on building a personal brand through cultural authenticity, navigating global platforms as an African creator, the business of food content, and using influence for social good like hunger alleviation.

Her sessions could include live demonstrations or tastings, blending education with sensory experience.

The event offers various ticket options, from general admission providing access to main stage talks, panels, and exhibits, to premium VIP packages with meet-and-greets and exclusive perks. With presale prices available, organizers encourage early registration as demand is expected to be high.

Chef Abbys’ participation highlights the shifting dynamics in the creator economy, where niche cultural experts gain seats at major tables. It also reflects growing interest in diverse culinary narratives amid globalization.

As African cuisine gains mainstream traction  through restaurants, fusion trends, and social media voices like hers play a pivotal role in shaping perceptions and inspiring cross-cultural appreciation.
