The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have recorded a major breakthrough against drug trafficking following the arrests of three suspects during an overnight Credible intelligence-led operation that crackdown a suspected cannabis production and storage hub in Volta Region.
The operation in Koleonu, Wegbe and Akplamafu is described by the Commission as a major step in disrupting organised drug networks across Ghana.

Following what it identified as a credible intelligence operation, NACOC dispatched a tactical operations team to carry out a raid on a suspected stash house believed to be a major centre for the cultivation, processing, and distribution of cannabis and hashish oil.
The carefully coordinated operation resulted in the arrest of three principal suspects believed to be connected to the illegal drug trade.
The suspects are currently in custody and assisting investigators as authorities work to identify other individuals linked to the operation and trace supply routes associated with the alleged network.
Intelligence-Led Operation
According to NACOC, the overnight raid formed part of an ongoing intelligence-driven strategy aimed at dismantling organised criminal groups involved in the cultivation, processing and trafficking of narcotic substances.
The Commission said officers moved in after gathering actionable intelligence indicating that the targeted locations were being used as a production and storage centre for cannabis and cannabis-derived products.

Although the Commission did not immediately disclose the quantity of cannabis or other exhibits retrieved during the operation, they term the exercise as one of the most significant anti-narcotics interventions undertaken.
Investigators are expected to conduct further forensic examinations and intelligence assessments to establish the full extent of the suspected operation.
NACOC confirmed that the three suspects arrested during the operation remain in custody and are cooperating with investigators.
The Commission believes information gathered from the suspects will prove crucial in identifying additional collaborators, financiers and distributors connected to the alleged drug network.
