Ghanaian entertainment, popular dancer and choreographer Endurance Grand has secured a role in the highly anticipated Hollywood adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, set for release on January 15, 2027.

The news, shared widely on social media with celebratory posts featuring behind-the-scenes footage, highlights the rising global profile of Ghanaian talent in major international productions.

Endurance Dzigbordi Dedzo, known professionally as Endurance Grand, rose to fame through her electrifying dance performances with the Dance With Purpose (DWP) Academy in Accra. Her viral videos, energetic live shows, and collaborations with artists like Stonebwoy, MzVee, and others have earned her millions of followers, particularly on TikTok where she boasts over 10 million.

From humble beginnings including periods of financial hardship and “perching” with friends after relocating from Nigeria to Ghana-Endurance has become a symbol of resilience and ambition in Ghana’s creative industry.

The teaser materials for Children of Blood and Bone showcase vibrant sets, actors in ornate traditional-inspired costumes, intricate choreography elements, and bustling production activity. Footage includes forest scenes with horseback riders, ceremonial dances by large groups in colorful attire, close-up shots of hair and makeup preparation, and intense character moments featuring performers in regal African fantasy garb.

Interviews with crew members, such as supervising stunt coordinator Daniel Hernandez, underscore the film’s ambitious scope.

Based on Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling young adult novel, the film is a fantasy epic set in a magical African kingdom. It follows a young warrior’s quest to restore magic and overthrow a tyrannical ruler. The star-studded cast includes Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Damson Idris, Cynthia Erivo, and Nigerian singer Ayra Starr in her acting debut. Produced by Lucasfilm, the project promises rich world-building, cultural authenticity, and high-stakes action.

While Endurance Grand’s exact role whether as a dancer, choreographer, or on-screen performer has not been fully detailed, her appearance in the teaser has generated significant buzz in Ghanaian media and online communities.

This opportunity marks another milestone in Endurance’s expanding career. She previously made her acting debut in the Ghanaian film The Fisherman, directed by Zoey Martinson. That whimsical comedy, Ghana’s first official selection at the Venice Film Festival, earned international acclaim, including awards at Venice and the Pan African Film Festival. Endurance played a character named Shasha, further demonstrating her versatility beyond dance.

Her journey has not been without challenges. In 2025, Endurance suffered a serious knee injury involving an ACL and meniscus tear, forcing her to cancel international dance commitments and use crutches during recovery.

Public Reaction

Fans expressed concern, but her determination shone through as she returned to training and performance, inspiring many with her comeback videos alongside DWP colleagues like Lisa Quama.

Social media reactions to her Children of Blood and Bone involvement have been overwhelmingly positive, with Ghanaians expressing pride and some playful banter about neighboring countries potentially claiming her success.

Industry observers see this as part of a broader wave of African talent breaking into Hollywood. Ghana’s film and dance scenes have gained momentum, with projects like The Fisherman (which also involved executive producer Yvonne Orji) putting the country on the global map. Endurance’s story from squatting as a teenager to sharing screens with A-list stars embodies the “Endurance” in her name and serves as motivation for aspiring creatives.

The film not only showcases fantasy storytelling rooted in African heritage but also amplifies voices and talents from the continent. For Endurance Grand, this is likely just the beginning of a multifaceted career spanning dance, acting, and possibly choreography on major stages.

Ghanaians and African cinema enthusiasts worldwide will be watching closely when Children of Blood and Bone hits theaters. In the words of fans and supporters, this is a grand achievement worth celebrating.
